💡Spotlight on Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

Student presenting work in POG

You might have heard your student talking about Portrait of a Graduate, or POG. What is POG?  Very simply, POG is FCPS’ commitment to ensuring that all students have the skills to be successful today, tomorrow and in the future. POG is broken down into 5 important attributes:  Communicator, Collaborator, Ethical & Global Citizen, Creative & Critical Thinker, and Goal-Directed & Resilient Individual.  Consider how you, as an adult, use these skills to find success in your life!

Students use these skills in all school subjects, at home, in the community, with hobbies and interests, in future careers, passions, and relationships.  We’re not focusing on these skills as an extra thing, students will use these skills to learn all content areas in a deeper, more meaningful way.

Volunteers Needed in the Cafeteria

students eating lunch

We are looking for parent volunteers to help our cafeteria run smoothly! Please consider signing up for a time to support our students and team in the cafeteria. Whether you can help for a single lunch shift or on a recurring basis, your presence makes a huge difference in creating a positive environment for our students. Sign Up Here

All volunteers must be registered in our volunteer system to help regularly at school. For cafeteria support, volunteers may be approved as Level 1 or Level 2. Visit the FCPS Website to register as a Level 1 or 2 volunteer.

When Should Your Child Stay Home?

Help your student succeed in school by encouraging them to miss as few days as possible. However, do make sure your student stays home if they are sick. Visit the FCPS website for helpful insights regarding absences and how to work with your child and our school to minimize impacts on learning.

If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to let us know so we can provide assistance, if needed.

Enhancing Safety and Security for Staff and Students

School safety and security are being enhanced across FCPS with a new emergency management system. The system includes sensors installed in schools and a wearable emergency response button (ERB) for staff.

The button allows staff to quickly and discreetly request help and, once pressed, they provide location information within the school. The ERB will only work on school grounds and does not rely on cellular service. It is not meant to replace calling 911, but is an additional safety tool that can be used if calling 911 may not be safe or practical.

Learn more about the emergency management system. You may submit questions to the FCPS Chief of Safety and Security Office.

Theatre for Young Audiences - Chantilly High School

Chantilly High School Show Promotion (Theatre for Young Audiences)

The Chantilly High School Drama Department is proud to present our Theatre for Young Audiences Show: Fairy Tale High School! TYA Shows are designed with our youngest audience members in mind: Preschool through Elementary School!

What if your favorite fairy tale characters were all students in the same high school? Jack's best friend Jill encourages him to sell his beloved toy cow on the internet. Cindy is teased by her step-sisters when she tries out for the track team. And what's with all the rumors about the mysterious Wolf Man? Narrated by the bumbling Principal Grimm, this fast-paced comedy concludes, of course, with the "Happily Ever After Dance."

Performances will be January 23 at 7pm, January 24 at 2pm & 7pm, and January 25 at 2pm. Purchase tickets at chantillydrama.org
