Happy New Year! Ms. Ulsh and I have enjoyed seeing everyone back in the building this week! On Tuesday, we celebrated Lemon Road's 70th Birthday! This was a lot of fun beginning with an amazing PTA for our staff. We had balloons, cards, treats for the students, and a end of day sing-a-long.
This week, ST Math is celebrating Family Math Week. Sit with your child as they log into Schoology to see the family activities provided.
The end of Quarter 2 is coming quickly. Help your child stay on top of their learning, homework, and routines. If you have any questions, reach out to your child's teachers. Thank you for your partnership!
- Log into Schoology to see how your child is doing in Benchmark Assessments. Find directions here.
- Remaining Early Release Wednesdays for the school year are: February 18, March 18, April 22, and May 13.
- Help us recognize our staff! Donate snacks/drinks that will be shared with the staff using specific staff favorites or anything you have on hand.
- Register to volunteer/chaperone at Lemon Road. Visit the Volunteer FCPS website or contact Mrs. Olsavsky at enolsavsky@fcps.edu.
- Add money to your child's lunch account through MySchoolBucks, check out the menu, and apply for Free and Reduced-Price Meals here.
- Nominate a Lemon Road staff member for a FCPS Cares recognition!
- Have your child log minutes of ST Math, Lexia, Khan Academy, or Varsity Tutors to keep up with learning throughout the winter. Access all through Lemon Road Student Links (some apps require logging in through Clever). There are many learning, typing, and researching apps available.
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 23. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 23, and Friday, March 6. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You will receive a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose. The electronic opt-out form can also be accessed at this link.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which include a focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.
Students and families can volunteer on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19th through Volunteer Fairfax’s family-friendly volunteer event. This event is designed to engage families with children (ages 5 - 12) in service learning. Volunteer Fairfax invites families to attend and participate in thoughtful, engaging service projects working alongside local nonprofit partners and neighbors across Northern Virginia. Each child will receive a “service passport” stamp as they complete projects, turning volunteering into an adventure and a lesson in community impact. This event is free and open to the public but registration is required, please find more information and register here.
💗THANK YOU: Thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to the Staff Welcome Back Breakfast on 1/6! Fresh breakfast items, grocery store runs, setting up/serving/cleaning up, washing dishes, financial donations, and simply SHOWING UP was greatly appreciated!
