Dear Haycock Families,

Please note the date change for our winter band evening concert.  That will now be on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026 as originally planned.  The PTA Heritage Night is being rescheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

We hope you and your child will participate in the FCPS Math Week activities.  Please see information below providing more details. Can we, as Haycock, contribute to the FCPS goal of achieving a million minutes of family math this week?

The end of the second quarter is fast approaching! As a way to keep families updated and to further partner with you, teachers will be sending interims home to parents/guardians of students who have dropped to a grade of 1 or 2 from their first quarter grade in an academic area or in an area of citizenship/behavior.  Interims will come home this week only for students where this is the case.

A friendly reminder that student drop off in the mornings should be at the Kiss and Ride line. The parking lot off Haycock Road to the side of school near the cafeteria and gym is not a drop off area for students.  This policy is in place to keep our walking students safe who come from the Little Falls Road direction.  Thank you for your cooperation.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP   krstyles@fcps.edu

💉Healthy Habits to Reduce the Spread of Flu and Other Germs

Fairfax County is seeing very high levels of influenza (flu) illness. Visits to emergency departments and urgent care centers for flu-like illness have increased, especially among children, and multiple flu outbreaks have occurred in our community and school settings.

Consider these tips from the Fairfax County Health Department to help reduce the spread of flu and other germs.

🏫Apply for Your Child to Learn in Two Languages

FCPS’ 2026-27 Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program lottery opens on Monday, January 12. The program offers students in kindergarten and first grade the opportunity to learn in English and another language — French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish — for half of each instructional day.

The online, countywide lottery is open to Fairfax County residents. Families must have a SIS ParentVUE account. Students not currently enrolled in FCPS should register at their base school before applying for the immersion program.

Families applying for first grade must do so by Thursday, February 12, at 4 p.m. Those applying for kindergarten must do so by Monday, March 2, at 4 p.m.

Informational meetings will begin in January. View dates and details on the FCPS calendar. If you have questions, please contact Brigid Williams at 571-423-4600.
