Dear Kings Park Families,
Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to school! We hope you and your children enjoyed a restful winter break filled with time to relax, recharge, and connect with loved ones.
As we return to school, we are excited to settle back into routines and continue the important learning and growth ahead. While students are reviewing expectations for their school day, we ask that adults take time to review the safety reminders for arrival and dismissal outlined below.
The Kings Park staff is looking forward to supporting students as we jump back into classrooms with renewed energy and focus. We’re so glad to have our students back and look forward to a great start to the new year!

Safety Reminders for Arrival and Dismissal
The safety of our students is our top priority, and we need your help to ensure a smooth and secure arrival and dismissal process. Please take a moment to review the traffic flow maps and review these important Kiss and Ride rules.
The below bus loop map highlights the prohibited private vehicle path. The sidewalks along this path are used for our walkers; any vehicle traffic along this route during arrival and dismissal creates a safety concern. In addition, please note that the parking lot located at Eaton Lane is dedicated for staff parking.

|
This Kiss and Ride map shows the strategic drive path for arrival and dismissal. Entry to Kiss ‘N’ Ride is via Harrow Way and the line circles the parking lot to the designated Kiss and Ride Doors.
It is important to note that the school day begins at 8:40am, which is when Kiss and Ride staff must enter the building and begin providing support and supervision to students. Any cars arriving after 8:40am will need to park and sign their child in at the main office.

📚 Seeing Different Perspectives in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 4 in Language Arts is about points of view. Students in K-5 will be learning about why and how people create stories, and how to understand different perspectives. Grade six students will learn how a person’s life shapes their point of view.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: Have you ever disagreed with a friend? How did you see things differently?
- Activity: Make up a silly scenario with your child, like a dinosaur walking down the street or an ice cream thunderstorm. Put on a short play where you and your child each play the role of each other. How does your child think you would react to the silly scenario and why? How would you react if you were your child?
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.

The FCPS CARES Program is a wonderful way for parents, staff and community members to recognize employees who make a difference. We invite you to submit a story highlighting how a Kings Park staff member has shown care, support, and dedication to students, colleagues, or our community. |
