Dear Wolftrap Families,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s hard to believe that we have arrived in 2026, with the GLORIOUS sunrise over our soccer field. I hope that your families had a restful and warm break. I have listed some information below about upcoming budget sessions. Please keep an eye on this process, as it is sure to affect us for the upcoming school year.
Before Covid, Wolftrap began a policy of having families arrange play dates after school had ended and all students had arrived home safely. As you can imagine, with over 300 families, the office staff cannot be responsible for a change of transportation that has one student accompanying another home from school, unless it is an emergency situation. As we start the new year, please review the family handbook that has the following language: Arrangements for all play dates and visits to friends should be scheduled after students arrive safely home from school.
If you need to change your child’s transportation home, the parent should use the change of transportation page: https://wolftrapes.fcps.edu/about/change-transportation-form or call the attendance line. All changes of transportation need to be submitted by 2pm the day of the change. Changes in transportation cannot include a bus change, as students may not ride a bus other than their assigned bus. Please let us know if we can help with any questions and thank you!
Some students returned from break with lovely watches and phones. Please remember to review the SRR guidelines with students. In elementary schools, phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Watches that serve a dual purpose (e.g., smart watch) may be worn; however, phone features (e.g., texting, Internet, calls, etc.) are to be off when phone use is prohibited. If your child is not feeling well, please remind them to let an adult know and proceed to the clinic. For safety and security, students should not contact parents directly, via phones or watches and request that parents pick them up from school. The office or clinic will reach out to parents via our office phones, with such information. Please reach out to the administrative team if you have any questions.
We are so glad that everyone is back! Let’s have a WONDERFUL 2026!
Dr. Maggie Grove, Principal
Ms. Megan Tipton, Assistant Principal
