Thank you for an incredible last week of school in 2025! There was so much joy and community throughout our campus. Our 3rd graders presented Famous American projects with parents and students across the grade level. Students of all grades enjoyed a strategy lab game day in their lesson with Mrs. Argue. Our entire school was wowed by student and staff performances at the Annual Variety Show Friday morning. A huge round of applause for the staff committee that puts on this amazing event each year, the parents for supporting students with these performances, the 6th grade stage crew and emcees, and our talented student body for braving the stage. Lastly, kindergarten through sixth graders enjoyed winter parties compliments of our committed room parents and classroom volunteers. Thank you for helping every child leave school excited and ready for winter break!
Whether your winter break brings time at home relaxing, celebrations with family and friends, or travel somewhere new, I hope it is safe, warm, and filled with happy memories. Our school office is closed for the duration of break, but I can be reached by email at aocastillo@fcps.edu.

Dear LRES Families,
As we look ahead to 2026, we are reflecting on the power and impact of the LRES community. This fall, you helped us:
- Share more than 130 pieces of cold weather gear with a neighboring school
- Collect 30 large boxes of food items for sharing with neighbors in need
- Host 15 school events
- Raise more than $21,000 to support the LRES community
- Engage more than 50 volunteers
- Meet ambitious goals for PTA membership
Lemon Road families have contributed to the school in countless other ways too. You’re in the classrooms for Freaky Friday and class parties, showing up as mystery readers, supporting Veterans Day celebrations, honoring students’ work at PBL presentations, and chaperoning our many incredible field trips, just to name a few.
Without the care and support of Lemon Road families, we could not enjoy such amazing success as a school. Today, we ask you to consider making a tax-deductible gift to directly support the PTA’s work at Lemon Road. You can make a gift at our website or send a contribution via Paypal or Venmo.
And, if you haven’t already, please join the PTA. Membership enables the work we do and means that we’ll be able to continue sharing news and information with you as we support the community in 2026 and beyond.
Warmly,
Caitlin Gaffey, Vice President of Events and Fundraising
Traci Crockett, Vice President of Membership
❄️Baroody Winter Camps: Registration is open until January 11 for the winter session of after school classes on M, W, Th, and F (there are no Tuesday classes this session).
☕Welcome Back Breakfast: Our annual "Welcome Back Breakfast" will be on Tuesday, January 6 in the library for our wonderful LRES staff. Please use the Breakfast Sign Up Link to sign up for donating money, making/bringing breakfast items, picking up coffee, or volunteering at the breakfast!
💗THANK YOU!!: A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support our first restaurant night at Ledo Pizza AND for everyone who helped make the Winter Parties such a great experience for all of our little lions! We definitely wrapped up 2025 on a high note!
A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.
Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!
We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during the upcoming winter break and on snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.
📚❄️Winter Break Literacy Adventures
Engaging in literacy activities during winter break helps students maintain the reading, writing, and speaking skills they built during the first half of the school year. Even a little daily practice, such as these 10 fun family activities, helps ensure students return to school confident and ready to continue growing in literacy.
🧮ST Math, Lexia & MathSpace Over Break
Students have access from home devices to log into ST Math, Lexia, and MathSpace (Honors Algebra 1) to keep up with their school work over break if parents choose. While not required, this is a great way to break up winter days at home. Students can also access many online books through Lemon Road Student Links.
