 Atoms Winter Weekly Recap
Boys Basketball played host to their first two district games of the season this week. Game one was Monday vs perennial district power Edison. The crowd was treated to a hard fought game by both teams throughout. The Atoms played some good defense at times but couldn't hold the Eagles at bay enough as they Atoms fell 65-56 in the contest. Game two was another home event with Lewis. This time the result was different and it was evident from the tip-off that it would be different as the Atoms held a 42-20 lead at the half and coasted on their way to a 69-25 district win. The Atoms will travel to Pinehurst, North Carolina for their holiday tournament next weekend.
Girls Basketball took a break from a three game schedule and only played two games for the week. Game one was a home game with Fairfax Trinity. Trinity took it to the Atoms as they dominated throughout to get the win. The Atoms didn't dwell too long on that game as they traveled to Lewis Friday evening for district game before the break. The Atoms and Lancers played a back and forth game throughout. Despite missing several key players for the night, the Atoms played a great team game and fell 37-36 to the Lancers. The Atoms will look to return that favor in January but in the meantime, will travel to play in the Winter Holiday Tournament at Mt. Vernon, starting Friday, December 26 at 10:00am vs Marshall.
Gymnastics continued to fine tune their skills throughout each event. The Atoms continue to get better as they have their eyes set on the National District Championship Meet in February. The Atoms have the break off and return to the mat on Thursday, January 8 at Edison.
Swim & Dive continued their hot start to the season as they moved their team record to 3-0! The Atoms have been dominant in the pool and it showed Friday evening vs Hayfield as both boys and girls teams won convincingly! Boys won 187-127, while girls finished 179-130. Two boys relay teams (200 & 400 Free) qualified for regionals while James Chilton earned a state qualifying time in the 100 free! The Atoms will take a break and return to the pool on January 9 vs Falls Church for senior night.
Wrestling has a busy Saturday as they have wrestlers at three different locations today. You can catch our co-ed wrestlers at Woodson, JV and girls at Wakefield, and Junior Vera Puna competing at Rock Ridge.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of a particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters by attending our monthly meetings or being a team liaison. Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!
For questions about concession stand sign ups, contact Lissette Puna.
