Saturday, December 20, 2025 - Special Winter Break Edition

Happy Holidays to You!

It was a festive week at Lane, with our holiday-inspired spirit days, our melodious winter concerts, and our classroom winter celebrations. Thursday night, our 6th grade Strings and Band students (and some 5th graders as well), led by Mr. Piccirello (Strings) and Mr. Woessner (Band), got to share their talents through songs of the season.

Winter Break Reminders

Winter

School Closed for Winter Break Monday, December 22, through Friday, January 2!

We wish all of our families a warm, wonderful Winter Break over the next two weeks! We hope you enjoy this time with family and friends, and we look forward to all of the great things ahead here at Lane in 2026!

Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!

We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during the upcoming Winter Break and on snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.

Winter Break Literacy Adventures

Engaging in literacy activities over Winter Break helps students maintain the reading, writing, and speaking skills they built during the first half of the school year. Even a little daily practice, such as these 10 fun family activities – one for each day school is closed for the break – helps ensure they return to school confident and ready to continue growing in literacy. Enjoy these literacy adventures as a family!

Winter Resources for Families

A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for Winter Break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.
