Winter celebrations were underway this week at The Villa!

Small School, BIG Heart! ❄️

Dear Fairfax Villa Community,

As we wrap up another wonderful week at school, we want to take a moment to wish you and your family a happy, restful Winter Break. This week has been especially exciting and full of holiday spirit throughout our building!

Students have brought so much joy to our days by wearing festive outfits, celebrating with classmates at holiday parties, and sharing their voices during our winter sing-along. The laughter, music, and smiles have truly made this a memorable way to close out the year.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We hope the break provides time for rest, reflection, and special moments together. We look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready for a great new year.

Wishing you a safe, joyful, and peaceful Winter Break!

Warmly,

Ms. Textoris & Mrs. Burke

🪩Dancing Through the Decades: Celebrating 60 Years!

Our school is celebrating a remarkable milestone -- 60 years of learning, growth, and community at Fairfax Villa!

We invite all families, students, staff, and alumni to join us on Friday January 9th from 6-8pm for a fun and family-friendly evening.

The celebration will include a DJ and dance party, activities for all ages, and a special look through our school’s history. This free event is a wonderful opportunity to come together and honor the people and moments that have shaped our “small school with a big heart”.

We would love your help! Volunteers are needed to make our celebration truly special. If you can lend a hand with setup, activities, or clean up -- please join us. Your support makes all the difference!

⏰ Main Office Hours During Winter Break

The Fairfax Villa main office will be closed for Winter Break from December 22nd to January 2nd. We will reopen on Monday January 5th.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season!

🔖 Winter Break Literacy Adventures

Engaging in literacy activities over winter break helps students maintain the reading, writing, and speaking skills they built during the first half of the school year.

Even a little daily practice, such as these 10 fun family activities, helps ensure they return to school confident and ready to continue growing in literacy. Enjoy these literacy adventures as a family!

🪙 Reid Reflects: State Standards and the FCPS Budget Story

In her latest Weekly Reflections, Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid thanked every member of our community for supporting FCPS as it remains fully accredited. Referencing a news release on accreditation, Dr. Reid noted how FCPS needs funding to support and maintain this excellence.

As we shared last week, Fairfax Villa Elementary was recognized as being Distinguished.

Visit the Budget Story webpage to learn more about the FCPS budget and the funding challenges that schools across Virginia, not just FCPS, face because of outdated state funding formulas. Read more of Dr. Reid’s Weekly Reflections

Make Your Voice Heard!

Look for opportunities to share your ideas about funding public education and encourage your neighbors, friends, and community members to follow the FCPS budget process. Several key decision dates and engagement opportunities are listed below:

  • Thursday, December 18, 2025 - The Virginia Governor introduced the Fiscal Year 2026 state budget.
  • Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. - There will be virtual regional public hearings on the governor’s proposed 2026-28 biennial state budget.
  • Thursday, January 22, 2026 - Dr. Reid will present the proposed FCPS budget to the School Board.

✏️Attendance “Tip of the Week”

At Fairfax Villa, we have a school improvement goal around improving our attendance rate. We would like to see our absenteeism rate decrease this year from 12% to 9%.

Here is our Attendance “Tip of the Week!”

Build in extra time: Set alarms with a little extra buffer time to account for any unexpected delays, like traffic or a missing shoe.
