Dear Sleepy Hollow Families,
Happy last day before winter break! As we wrap up the year together, I want to pause and simply say thank you. Your partnership, encouragement, and daily support make a powerful difference for our students and our entire school community. Sleepy Hollow truly is a family, and I am so grateful to be on this journey with you.
This week, I have seen students showing growth, kindness, and perseverance—finishing assignments, supporting classmates, and continuing to make smart, respectful choices right up to the finish line. That momentum matters. Thank you for helping your child arrive ready to learn each day and for reinforcing the importance of attendance, routines, and positive behavior. Every day counts, and your support helps our students thrive.
As we head into winter break, I hope your family finds time for rest, laughter, and moments that refill your hearts. Whether your plans are big or simple, I hope this break brings peace, comfort, and joy. If you’re traveling, please be safe. If you’re staying close to home, I hope you enjoy cozy moments and quality time together.
When we return in the new year, we will be ready to continue learning, growing, and reaching our goals—together. I’m filled with hope for what’s ahead and excited for all we will accomplish as one community.
From my family to yours, thank you again for being an essential part of the Sleepy Hollow family. Wishing you a wonderful winter break and a happy, healthy new year!
With warmth and gratitude, Principal Mirnaly Vega

We have set a goal to raise $5,000 and every student has a goal to read at least 300 minutes for the Read-a-Thon period, we want to encourage them to do even more!
Our school-wide goal is to reach 200,000 minutes by January 15, 2026.
Read-a-Thon packets should have come home last week with instructions and a form to log minutes for each of the days - please encourage your children to log those reading minutes and help them earn donations!!!

Winter Resources for Families
A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.
Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!
We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during the upcoming winter break and on snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.
Winter Break Literacy Adventures
Engaging in literacy activities over winter break helps students maintain the reading, writing, and speaking skills they built during the first half of the school year. Even a little daily practice, such as these 10 fun family activities, helps ensure they return to school confident and ready to continue growing in literacy. Enjoy these literacy adventures as a family!
