The History and Humanities Fair - February 26

historyfair

Deadline to register: EXTENDED to Jan 16

The History and Humanities Fair is happening on February 26, 2026 at the Stacy C. Sherwood Center. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of GMU, this year PES students in grades 3-6 will join students from Daniels Run and Katherine Johnson for an expanded event.

What is the History and Humanities Fair?: Students choose their own topic and do their own research, alone or in teams. They then present their subject at the fair through exhibits, performances, or documentaries. It's like a science fair, but for history and humanities!

Optional study sessions will be held on Thursdays at Katherine Johnson Middle School in January and February to help students prepare.

For more information and to sign-up, use this link. The deadline to register is Friday, January 16! If you have questions, contact: catherinepfoster@gmail.com

Lost and Found Items

Is Your Child Missing Something?

Our Lost and Found bin is currently overflowing with items waiting to be reunited with their owners! We have a large collection of:

  • Coats & Sweatshirts (perfect for this changing weather!)
  • Water Bottles of all shapes and sizes
  • Lunch Boxes and containers

Please Take a Look!

On your next visit to the school, we encourage you to stop by the Lost and Found area outside the Cafeteria to claim any items that belong to your family. It is helpful to check even if you aren’t sure something is missing—you might be surprised by what you find!

Thank you for helping us clear out our bin and get these belongings back home!

The Fastest Way to Hear About School Delays or Closings

Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE to make sure you receive notifications of school delays or closings. Emails and text messages are sent to parents/caregivers based on the email addresses and cell phone numbers entered in ParentVUE.

If your information is correct but you are not receiving updates from FCPS, contact the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277, Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Watch a video to see how FCPS makes weather delays or closing decisions. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.

Even When School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!

FCPS encourages students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play for your child in the event of weather-related school closures.

The Panther Way

The following students made our "Panther Way Spotlight" for this week!  They all were seen following The Panther Way by being Safe, Responsible, and Kind around our school building. Keep up the good work, everyone!
