Morning Arrival Reminders
During the colder months, we tend to see an increase in the number of cars in our Kiss & Ride lane. To ensure a safe and smooth start to the day for everyone, please keep the following in mind:
-
Kiss & Ride Timing: The lane closes promptly at 8:45 a.m.
-
Late Arrivals: If you arrive after 8:45 a.m., please park and use Door 1 (the main entrance).
-
Sign-In Protocol: For your child’s safety, please walk your child into the front office to sign them in for the day.
Attendance
If you need to report any attendance or dismissal changes, please notify the front office.
Absences and late arrivals must be reported to the office by 9:00 a.m. via one of the following methods
Change of Dismissal
To change your student’s dismissal, use the Change in Dismissal Form located on the Franconia ES school website. You will need to provide details like your child's name, grade, and teacher, as well as specify how they will go home, such as early pickup (specify time student is being picked up), Kiss and Ride or a specific bus number. Make sure to submit the request by the school's deadline of 2:00 pm. Please be aware that if another student is involved, a corresponding form may be needed from that student's parent/guardian.
Just a reminder that all early dismissals must occur before 3:00 pm.
YEARBOOK
COVER CONTEST!
|
|
 |
All Franconia students are invited to participate in our yearbook cover competition. Please use a white 8 x 11 sheet of paper and colored pencils. On the back of the paper, write your first and last name, teacher's name, and grade level. This year's yearbook theme is:
Penguins Today, Leaders Tomorrow
Your cover designs should be related to the theme. Please include Franconia Elementary 2025-2026 on the cover and remember to check your spelling!
Designs are due to Mrs. Yortzidis by Tuesday, January 27th
Things to Consider when designing:
- Draw your picture with a pencil first.
- When coloring, use colored pencils only.
- Your design should be Portrait view (not landscape)
- Remember to use color to really make your picture pop! (don’t have a lot of white space)
Franconia Toiletry Drive
Thank you for supporting troop 53110 and many families at Franconia by sending in toiletries for the Franconia Food and Toiletry Bank. We collected over 2,000 items to help families at our school. Here are our final results

Imagine a world where young people feel empowered, encouraged, and understood. Mentors can make that world a reality by helping young people find and follow their passions, excel in school, and thrive wherever they are.Learn more about Mentoring Month.
Research has shown that young people with at least one trusted mentor are less likely to skip school, less likely to use illegal drugs or drink alcohol, and more prepared to enter college or the workforce. Yet one in three children lack a mentor.
All it takes is one person to serve as a trusted adult to help change a young person’s path in life. Mentors provide attention, support, and enrichment, and help connect their mentees to resources that may help them on their journey in life.
The FCPS MentorWorks program matches mentors with students in schools near where they live or work. They meet for at least 30 minutes a week. Learn more about how to become a mentor for an FCPS student. Contact Martha Macdonald, mentoring specialist, for additional information at mmacdonald@fcps.edu.
