January 5: First Day of School after Winter Break
January 5: Green Team Officers Meeting - 3:30 pm
January 9: PTA Glow Party
As a reminder, winter break will be held Monday, December 22, to Friday, January 2. To help make sure you and your children have a restful break, we have asked that no homework be assigned during this time. Teachers may assign long-range assignments in the weeks ahead of the break, allowing students to practice time management skills, but no assignments will be due immediately following the break. We look forward to welcoming students back in the new year. The WFES Office will be closed over winter break.
Dear Families,
As we approach the end of the year and look toward the possibilities of 2026, I wanted to take a moment to share my deepest gratitude for your presence in our school community.
A school is so much more than a building or a curriculum; it is a partnership. The trust you place in us every day to care for and educate your children is a responsibility we do not take lightly.
We are proud that Wakefield Forest was recognized as Distinguished by the Virginia Department of Education on the new School Performance and Support Framework.
This past year has been filled with moments that reminded us why we love what we do. We are especially thankful for:
-
Your Partnership: From volunteering at events to supporting learning at home, your involvement is the fuel that keeps our programs running.
-
The Shared Values: Your commitment to fostering kindness, curiosity, and resilience in your children makes our classrooms vibrant and welcoming spaces.
-
Our Vibrant Community: The diverse perspectives and energy our students and staff bring to our school creates a truly unique environment for our students to grow.
-
The Most Amazing Staff: Wakefield Forest is compromised of an amazing staff of dedicated professionals that work to support the diverse needs of our learners.
We wish you and your family a restful, happy, and healthy holiday season.
Warmly,
Principal Prindle

Our amazing fourth, fifth and sixth grade students dazzled at the Band and Strings winter concert. We're grateful to Mrs. Cradler, Mrs. Lubinski and Mr. Mondoloka for their hard work this year.
Are you creative and want to contribute to the Green Team? Help create our new WFES Eco-Code! Create a design, a drawing, a graphic or a poem that represents what our Green Team mission is at WFES. Students and staff will vote for their favorite entry and the winner will receive a prize from the Green Team. Entries are due to Ms. Muratore on January 30th 2026. We will vote the first week of February and announce our first ever Eco-Code winner!
Mission statement: Encouraging environmental stewardship through hands-on environmental action in our school and community with activities such as reducing waste, conserving energy, planting and maintaining wildlife habitats, and tending to edible gardens.
