Winter Message from the Principals

As we approach the winter break, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for our incredible school community. This season is a wonderful time to reflect on the hard work and growth our students have shown over the past several months. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated group of educators, supportive parents, and enthusiastic learners who make Oak Hill such a special place to grow and thrive. Your partnership is the foundation of our success, and we are so thankful for the kindness and energy you bring to our halls every day.

We hope this upcoming break offers you and your loved ones a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time together. Whether you are traveling or staying cozy at home, may your days be filled with joy and laughter. We look forward to seeing our students return refreshed and ready for a bright new year of learning. On behalf of the entire Oak Hill staff, we wish you a safe, peaceful, and wonderful winter break!

In Partnership,

Kelly Durso, Principal

Shelia Sobeski, Assistant Principal

Winter Recess

Students will have recess every day unless there are extreme weather conditions or a wind chill advisory has been issued.  Please send your children with appropriate clothing for the weather. (Hats, mittens, coats, etc.)

Winter Resources for Families

A list of resources has been compiled for students and families in case they or someone they know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.

Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!

We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during the upcoming winter break and on snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.

Winter Break Literacy Adventures

Engaging in literacy activities over winter break helps students maintain the reading, writing, and speaking skills they built during the first half of the school year. Even a little daily practice, such as these 10 fun family activities, helps ensure they return to school confident and ready to continue growing in literacy. Enjoy these literacy adventures as a family!
