Have a Wonderful Winter Break

  • Winter Resources for Families

Here is a list of resources in case you or someone you know needs assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources page for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.

  • Even If School Is Closed, Learning Can Continue!

We encourage students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during the upcoming winter break and on snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play at home.

  • FCPL Winter Reading Adventure

Fairfax County Public Library’s (FCPL) winter reading adventure has begun and will continue through Saturday, January 31, 2026. Visit your local FCPL branch or the Winter Reading Adventure website to register and get a sneak peek at the prizes. Also, check out FCPL’s  Winter Reading Events webpage to learn about gingerbread house making, crafting sessions, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and book discussions.

Cold Weather Reminders

As the cold weather has now arrived, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. We will monitor the weather for advisories and warnings regarding temperatures and wind chills. Please expect that your child will go outside for recess every day, even on days that are below freezing, unless there is an advisory or warning posted that prevents children from being outside.

View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.

If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please call Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health.

Left Behind

LB

Does your child have a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book that needs to be returned to a Fairfax library? Maybe missing a nice Disney sweatshirt? These items and more are languishing in the Left Behind. Please check the cafeteria corner. Thank you in advance.
