December 12, 2025

Happy Friday, Panther Families!

This week, all teachers sent progress reports through SIS. If you did not receive one, please reach out directly to the content-area teacher or to your child’s LHMS school counselor. As always, we encourage you to continue monitoring your child’s attendance and grades through ParentVUE.

As we enter our final week before Winter Break—and prepare to close out 2025—we want to commend our Panthers for their hard work and dedication thus far. We have a busy and exciting week ahead!

Our SCA will host its annual Snow-Ball Dance on Thursday, December 18, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $5.00 and will not be sold at the door. Students are encouraged to come festive and “dress to impress!” If your child needs financial assistance, please contact their school counselor.   This has proven to be an evening of fun for our deserving Panthers!

On Friday, December 19, during the school day, we will present our Schoolwide Winter Concert, featuring outstanding performances from our Fine Arts Department: Band, Orchestra, and Chorus. Our SCA will sprinkle in some winter cheer!  Our Panthers are in for a real treat!

That evening, our PTA will host Skate Night at SkateQuest (1800 Michael Faraday Court) from 7:30–9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance during lunches or $12 at the door.

Finally, please note that the main office will be closed to the public during Winter Break, Monday, December 22 – January 2, 2026. We will resume normal operating hours on Monday, January 5, 2026. Please plan accordingly.

Be well, stay warm, and enjoy this festive week!

Scoliosis Information and Fact Sheet

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. A spine affected by scoliosis has a sideways curve, making it appear more like an "S" or a "C" than a straight line. Untreated scoliosis can lead to limited motion, back pain, deformity, and in extreme cases, impaired function of the heart and lungs. Early detection and treatment may prevent scoliosis from progressing.  Please follow this link for more information.

If you have any concern that your child may have scoliosis, make sure that your child is screened by a health care provider. For additional resources and information, please contact the school Public Health Nurse (PHN), Yessica Gamez, at ygamezgomez@fcps.edu.

For more information visit the Scoliosis Research Society website.
