Last week was a fun and busy week at Lemon Road! See photos of a kindergarten patterns lesson and a first grade literacy lesson - I enjoyed spending time in both classes. Our 5th grade welcomed the 4th grade teachers & literacy staff for grade level Benchmark walkthroughs which help teachers gain insights and ideas from other Lemon Road teachers. I participated in a 3rd grade counseling lesson with Ms. Gray and spent Thursday evening listening to our 6th grade strings students play alongside their Marshall Pyramid orchestra peers! Friday was a snowy day - but many classes got outside for a snowy walk and our staff enjoyed delicious hot cocoa and sweets from our amazing PTA!
This week we look forward to our own winter concert, a 3-hour early release on Wednesday, our Lost & Found getting sorted & donated, and a 5th grade family engagement event on Thursday!
Thank you for getting all students to school on time everyday at Lemon Road. We appreciate your partnership in learning ~ Mrs. Castillo
- Lost & Found items will be collected and donated at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 10. Come reclaim lost items by December 9!

The Lemon Road music department is looking forward to sharing some wonderful music with you! The 2025 Winter Music Concert for the Lemon Road chorus, strings, and band will take place on Thursday, December 11th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the gym. See the flyer below for specific arrival times for Thursday evening. The students will participate in an abbreviated concert Friday morning during school as well!
Parents and guardians of students in grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services must submit the AAP Full-Time Referral Form to Taylor Argue at targue@fcps.edu no later than December 15, 2025.
Each year, families can submit a referral for full-time AAP services any time from the first day of school through December 15. No late referrals for full-time AAP services will be accepted.
Once a referral is received, our school will compile information related to the student. Then, a committee of six trained professionals from across the county will review the materials to determine eligibility for full-time AAP services.
🎨 Attention All Artists! Submissions for this year’s Yearbook Cover Contest are due December 17! Our theme is “Growing Together,” and we can’t wait to see how you bring it to life. Be sure to check the flyer for all rules and submission details. Reach out to Ms. Burke if you have questions.
💙Community Service Project: Our annual community service project is wrapping up on Friday, December 12. Our hearts have been full as we've watched the minion box fill up TWICE already! We greatly appreciate everyone who has donated so far, and know that our community is filled with kindness and generosity. THANK YOU!
❄️Winter Parties: Winter Parties will be on Friday, December 19, after the Variety Show in the morning. Room parents have been busy coordinating with classroom teachers. It is always such an enjoyable day for our school as excitement buzzes through the hallways, and YOU are an integral part of creating those magical moments. Be sure to help by volunteering, sending in supplies, or making a donation to your child's class party.
⭐Baroody Camps: The fall session for Baroody will be wrapping up before Winter Break, and we are finalizing the classes that will be offered in the winter session, which will start in January. Flyers should be in Wednesday folders this week.
When students miss too many days of school, they fall behind and struggle to keep up with their classmates. Whatever the reason for the absence, the result for the student is the same — learning time is lost. Children and adolescents will get sick at times and may need to stay at home, but we want to work with you to help minimize the number of days your student misses school. Students that miss 10% or more of the school year, for any reason, are considered chronically absent in the state of Virginia - this data point impacts not only your child's achievement, but their social connections too. The state also posts this data which impacts school ratings and home values! Check out this link to support strong school attendance and when you may need to keep your child home to get well.
