Roadrunner Roundup
Dear Roadrunner Families,
What a beautiful winter day it is! We hope you are enjoying this snowy Friday!
We were thrilled by the incredible turnout and energy at our STEM Night last night! It was a true celebration of innovation, with students exploring a dazzling array of hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and a love for learning. A massive thank you to our phenomenal PTA volunteers Becky Steffen and Peter Plavchan for their tireless work in organizing this memorable night, and a special shout-out to our amazing Math Resource Teacher, Ms. Bryce, for her dedication in bringing this vision to life!
It has been a great, though chilly, first week back. We're looking forward to two more weeks packed with hard work, fun, and growth before our well-deserved winter break.
Upcoming Reminder:
As a reminder, next Wednesday, December 10, is a three-hour early release day (12:15 dismissal). Students will follow their same dismissal plan that was used on November 12th. If you need to make any changes to your child's dismissal plan, please let the office know or message us on TalkingPoints.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We are so proud to have you as part of the Little Run family!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal Alison Butler, Assistant Principal

The theme this year is “Children First!” This week celebrates the progress schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population. This includes students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors.
Classes will be engaging in a variety of activities each day in honor of this important week, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging!

🎤 Share Your Thoughts With Superintendent Reid
At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school.
Community Conversations with Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid are underway across the school division to discuss current challenges and future opportunities. We encourage you to attend, share your thoughts, and ask questions about FCPS. Events are planned for the following dates from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.:

Volunteer FCPS Helps Community Members Connect With Schools
Volunteer FCPS allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities across the division. It helps ensure a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must:
- Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS.
- Register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
- Sign in and out of schools using our visitor kiosk.
Individuals can complete a volunteer orientation on the Volunteer FCPS website. View Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the volunteer levels.
Recent Updates to Volunteer Opportunity Levels
Due to the overwhelming response from our community, FCPS is temporarily pausing fingerprint requirements for most Level 3 volunteers. Those who have already been fingerprinted will be processed to be eligible for all Level 3 opportunities.
As part of the application, all volunteers sign a statement confirming they have not been convicted of violent crimes, crimes against children, or other serious misconduct.
Field trip chaperone opportunities are now classified as Level 2 (not requiring a comprehensive background check).
