Herndon's Success Spotlight

Fun Friday Bingo

.

The Leadership class is bringing excitement to the cafeteria by hosting Bingo during all lunch periods as one of their highly anticipated Fun Friday events. This engaging activity offers students a chance to socialize, win small prizes, and take a quick, enjoyable break from their academic routines. The initiative aims to boost school spirit and provide a lighthearted end to the school week for the entire student body.

Food Drive: A Community Success

.

The Leadership sponsored Herndon Food Drive was a resounding success, collecting a wide variety of canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit local families from November 7–25, 2025. Students contributed greatly by bringing donations to their 4th-period classes, helping to gather much-needed items like juice boxes, microwavable mac and cheese, and granola bars. As an incentive for their generosity, the grade-level classes that donated the most items will each receive a celebratory breakfast from Leadership.

Students Send Holiday Cheer to Service Members

.

Students participated in a heartwarming effort to support overseas service members by writing holiday postcards in the cafeteria during their lunch periods. This initiative, which aimed to spread cheer and gratitude during the holiday season, was fully supported by Herndon's NJROTC program. The collective work demonstrated the students' commitment to honoring and remembering those serving the country abroad.

Scoliosis Fact Sheet

The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Scoliosis Fact Sheet explains that scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that most commonly develops during the growth spurt between the ages of 10 and 15, often without the parent or child being aware. The information sheet encourages parents to look for key signs of the condition, such as uneven shoulders, an uneven waistline, or a prominent shoulder blade, and to ensure their child is screened by a healthcare provider or the school nurse. Treatment options for scoliosis vary based on the severity of the curve, ranging from observation to bracing or, in severe cases, spinal surgery. Additional information about scoliosis and school health services is available on the FCPS website.
