Literacy Night and Book Fair Night 12/4
We’re excited to announce that the beloved Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner! This event is always a favorite among students and plays a big role in supporting our school’s reading programs. To make it a success, we need the help of our amazing parent volunteers. Whether you can spare an hour or a day, your time and energy make a huge difference. Please consider signing up to volunteer—we can’t do it without you! If you can volunteer then please note that FCPS now requires ALL volunteers to register and apply on the new system Volunteer FCPS. So you would need to register online with FCPS and then sign-up at the WHES sign-up genius to pick a date and time. Thank you for taking the extra step to help out!
The Fair will be held December 1-5th. All classes will have time to shop during the school day. We will also be open for family shopping on Literacy Night, December 4th from 5:00-7:00pm. Can’t wait to see you there!
Advanced Academic Programs: Full Time Referral Deadline for Grades 2-6
The deadline to submit a referral for AAP Full-Time Services is December 15, 2025. Please submit the referral to your child’s classroom teacher, or to Jessica Stebbins, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART). Once the referral is submitted, a school committee will prepare a screening file to be submitted on the child’s behalf, and a decision about eligibility for full-time services will be made by the county in early spring. Families are notified of this decision in early to mid-April. You can find the referral form, along with the optional parent questionnaire on the Advanced Academic Programs website. You may also request a copy of the referral and parent questionnaire from your child’s classroom teacher. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Stebbins, our AART at jsstebbins@fcps.edu or by calling the school at 703-799-2000.

Don’t Forget to Submit your Federal Impact Aid Survey!
We are in the last couple of weeks to submit your Federal Impact Aid Survey. The school has sent home paper copies with every student. Please don’t delay completing the form and submitting it to the school as soon as possible. The form is also available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County schools and centers.
