PTA Meeting on 11/24 🐾
- Join the PTA! ❤️
Dear Poplar Tree Families,
As we head into this season of thanks, we wanted to share how grateful we are for our school community!
Our school staff - teachers, front office team, custodians, assistants, and everyone in between are truly amazing!. They create a safe, warm, and engaging place for children to thrive. We are so grateful for their tireless commitment!
Our students are the reason we're all here. Their curiosity, their laughter in the halls, and the pride they take in their work fill our days with so much joy. We are so proud of how hard they try and how kind they are to one another.
Our families create a great partnership! Education is strongest when the school and home work together, and we are so fortunate to have families who are so supportive, involved, and trusting. Whether you're helping with homework or volunteering at an event, your presence makes a difference.
The strong, positive atmosphere here at Poplar Tree is something we all build together. We feel genuinely fortunate to share this community with you.
Wishing you all a wonderful time of reflection and connection!
Sue Andujar, Principal
Amy Alley, Assistant Principal

🎉Congratulations Kathy Dennis!🤗
After 23 years at Poplar Tree in the front office, Kathy Dennis has retired! Today is her last day at Poplar Tree. We wish Kathy the best of luck as she gets to enjoy spending lots of time with her grandbabies! She will truly be missed at Poplar Tree and it will never be the same without her!

🥗FCPS Student Food Show🌯
Students in Grades 4-6 only!
Does your child love eating trying new foods? If so, perhaps they would like to attend the 3rd Annual Future of FCPS Student Food Show where students in grades 4-11 will have the opportunity to sample new menu concepts to evaluate and select potential items for School Year 2026-2027 menus!
During this event, the students will:
- Gain insights into the capacities and complexities of food services in FCPS.
- Collaborate on the recipe development process at FCPS through their partnership with local and national food manufacturers.
- Sample potential new recipes.
- Provide feedback on the acceptability and viability of these menu items.
The show will take place on December 9, 2025 at the Westfields Marriot from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm. We will be sending 8-10 students along with two chaperones from Poplar Tree. We ask that students who attend have no dietary restrictions or food allergies.
If your child is interested, please complete THIS FORM by Tuesday, November 25. If we have more than 8-10 interested students, we will choose randomly.

💰School Store - THANK YOU!🙏
Thank you to everyone who supported the school store. The SCA raised just under $600! The money will go towards and end of year school gift.
🦋Help Create a Monarch Waystation 🦋
We are gathering plastic gallon milk jugs to help us grow milkweed. Once we have 30 milk jugs, we can start to grow our Monarch Butterfly Habitat. Please drop off your empty milk jugs in the labeled box in the front lobby.

😞Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener😄
Results Coming Soon!
Students in grades 3-6 took the SEL Screener during the month of October, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results will be available to families on November 17 in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our school counselor or school social worker with any questions!
