We are excited that this week will be a FULL week! Woohoo! We are also excited that the book fair is November 17-21, 2025. This is a great chance to support Wolfrap. Parents will be able to attend the book fair at any time during open hours.
- Monday & Tuesday, 3:30–8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday & Thursday, 3:30–7:00 p.m.
- Friday, 3:30-4:00 p.m.
-
Grades K,2,4,6: Thursday, 8:15-9:00 a.m.*
-
Grades PK, 1, 3, 5: Friday, 8:15-9:00 a.m.*
*We are piloting a flexible open house this year, where parents can visit their child(ren)’s classroom, see work and stay for the morning news show. A few differences and things to remember:
- This is different from years past and will mimic our Open House at the beginning of the school year.
- If arriving at 8:20 or after, check in with the classroom teacher for attendance.
- Sixth graders will be attending specials at 8:45, so you can attend for a short visit before they proceed to class. You may visit the book fair with your sixth grader until 9:00.
- If your child is a news crew member on that day, there is not enough room to visit the crew in the studio. However, you can attend your child’s classroom to watch the news show.
With this new format we hope to make things easier for families while continuing to celebrate our students' hard work! *If you or your family has a need and is not able to provide a book from the book fair for your child/ren, please reach out to me or Ms. Tipton. Book Fair will remain open 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday for parents to browse/check out after students return to class.

🦃 Wolftrap Elementary School Thanksgiving Food Drive for CHO 🥫: In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Wolftrap community is hosting a Food Drive to benefit the Committee for Helping Others (CHO). CHO provides essential emergency food assistance to families in need right here in the local Vienna area. Let's show our gratitude by giving back to our neighbors!
We are collecting non-perishable food items and household items. Students may drop off items in their classrooms or front office. To help us reach our goal, the grade that collects the most items will win a prize. We are also gratefully accepting grocery store gift cards! These are used by CHO to purchase perishable and specialty items, such as baby formula and products for special dietary needs.
For more information on CHO's services, please visit their website: https://cho-va.com/services/food/
For questions or concerns regarding the Thanksgiving Food Drive please contact Azita Behdad at abehdad@fcps.edu or 703-319-7354.Thank you, Wolftrap families, for your generous support of our community!
Lightspeed Parent Portal Allows Parents to Manage Student Screen Time: FCPS has introduced new parent controls in the Lightspeed Parent Portal to help families manage screen time on FCPS-issued devices. Through the portal, parents can control their child's access to YouTube and pause web browsing during designated After-School Hours while students are off the FCPS network. These controls are active Monday - Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:00 AM (even on student holidays) and all day Saturday and Sunday. They do not affect district filtering policies during the instructional day. Parents can register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal using the link provided in their weekly Lightspeed Online Student Activity Report email. For more information about the Parent Portal, please visit the Lightspeed Parent Portal page on the FCPS website.
✅ Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey: FCPS is asking all families to complete a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete the survey as soon as possible. Wolftrap will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page or watch this video about why Impact Aid matters.
🚨Calendar Updates
🦃 Thanksgiving: Schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, November 26, through Friday, November 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, December 1. See the complete school year calendar.
November is National Family Engagement Month: This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success. FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth. Additionally, Ms. Azita Bedhad serves as our family liaison, who can welcome and orient families, and help them understand Wolftrap’s culture, policies, procedures, and practices. She can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Ms. Behdad at abehdad@fcps.edu
