A Message from Principal Crews
Dear Hornet Community,
I hope this newsletter finds you well! It has been another wonderful and busy week of learning, growth, and community here at Hollin Meadows Elementary.
This past Monday, we had the important opportunity to observe Veterans Day. It is a meaningful time to reflect on the selfless service and immense sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have protected our freedoms. Teaching our children to appreciate and honor our veterans is a vital lesson in gratitude and citizenship. Please take a moment to thank any veteran you know this week.
Next week on Friday we will hold the much-anticipated Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon! I cannot wait to welcome many of our families. Please make sure to look over the modified lunch schedule for the day. We are so thankful for our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. You all make Hollin Meadows a truly special place!

📖The HM Book Fair Starts Nov. 17!
Hollin Meadows library is hosting a Book Fair Nov. 17-21, 2025. The Book Fair generates funds for the library and supports our love of reading!
The easiest way to let your child shop the book fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It's easy setup and easy for others to add funds
There is also an opportunity for you to contribute to Share the Fair - the giving program that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child leaves the book air empty-handed!

The Book Fair will be open after school on these dates. Families may enter the Book Fair through the side door to the library.

👟Ready, Set, Hustle!
Hey Hollin Meadows Hornets,
Get ready to lace up your sneakers and join us for the most exciting event of the season- the Hornet Hustle!
WHO: HMES students, families and community members!
WHAT: Hornet Hustle- 1 mile run around Hollin Hills neighborhood
WHERE: Meet at HMES
WHEN: Saturday, November 22 at 9 am!
After the run, join us back at the school for a post race party!
We need volunteers! Please consider signing up to volunteer here. A big thank you!
To join the Hornet Hustle, register beforehand by signing up here. There is a suggested donation of $10 per runner or $25 per family. Every dollar goes directly to the PTA to benefit every student!

Impact Aid
✅ Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to complete a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete the survey as soon as possible.
Our school will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page or watch this video about why Impact Aid matters.
Register for ParentVUELearn how to activate your SIS ParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey and have access to other helpful information about your child’s education at FCPS.

Immunizations
🩹 Immunization Events for FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide school-required immunizations and optional flu shots to all FCPS students at no cost. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year.
Immunization clinics will take place on:

Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Frost Middle School.

Tuesday, November 18, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., at Willow Oaks Administrative Center.
Participation is voluntary. Additional Immunization Resources are available online. Parents or guardians may schedule an appointment for their student.️
🩹 Eventos de Vacunación para Estudiantes de FCPS
FCPS, en asociación con “Inspire Health Alliance”, ofrecerá las vacunas obligatorias para ir a la escuela y la vacuna contra la influenza (“Flu” en inglés), de forma gratuita, para todos los estudiantes. También se ofrecerán fechas adicionales durante todo el año escolar.
