 Hello Mustangs,
We are quickly approaching the Thanksgiving break and the end of the second week of the second quarter. Please note that my wife and I are expecting our second child this month, so the Mustang Weekly may have a message from Ms. Jenny Payne, our Director of Student Services, if I am unable to write one. Speaking of Student Services, our team of school counselors will be working with students in the coming months to help them select future courses. Lastly, we had an exciting time celebrating our World Kindness Spirit Week, and we would like to thank our SCMS Leadership Class for organizing it. As always, thank you for all you do for our school community and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, feedback, or concerns. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

New Parent Controls in the Lightspeed Parent Portal
- FCPS has enabled new parent controls within the Lightspeed Parent Portal to support families in managing screentime on FCPS devices at home. Parents can now manage their child’s access to YouTube and pause web browsing on district-issued devices, during designated “After School Hours” while students are off the FCPS network.
- These parental controls are only active Monday-Friday from 3:30 PM t 6:00 AM, and all day on weekends and student holidays when students are off the FCPS network. Parental controls do not interfere with district filtering policies during the instructional day. Parents can register for the Parent Portal using the link provided in their weekly Lightspeed Online Student Activity Report email.

 Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Immunization Events for FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide school-required immunizations and optional flu shots to all FCPS students at no cost. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year.
