Family Liaison

Picture of Family Liaison

Mrs. Nigeen Abbas is our new family liaison.  She can be reached at 703-467-3569 or nsabbas@fcps.edu.  Her normal office hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 8:15-2:45.

Her greeting to Oak Hill is below:

"Hello Oak Hill!

My name is Nigeen Abbas, and I am grateful to join Oak Hill Elementary as the new Family Liaison. I am passionate about building meaningful connections and helping bridge the gap between families, students, and the school so our community feels welcomed, uplifted, and truly seen.

My work overseas with the United Nations and other nonprofit organizations strengthened my commitment to empathy, cultural understanding, and compassionate communication. As a holistic healer and yoga instructor with over two decades of experience, I bring a grounded, heart-centered presence to my work—approaching each interaction with intention, openness, and care.

I look forward to nurturing our community with grounding energy and heartfelt intention, and supporting each family with kindness, clarity, and steady, meaningful support.

With love and light, Nigeen Abbas

A Few Reminders

  • Please Bring Your ID  - Please remember that you must have your ID with you in order to pick up students or to volunteer in a classroom or have lunch with your student.  This needs to be the physical ID, not just a picture of it on your phone.  Thank you for helping us keep your children safe.
  • Please indicate the reason when your child is absent - Please be specific when you are letting us know of your child's absence: illness, doctor appointment, family trip, etc.  This will allow us to record the correct attendance code for your child's absence.

Lightspeed Parent Portal Allows Parents to Manage Student Screen Time

FCPS has introduced new parent controls in the Lightspeed Parent Portal to help families manage screen time on FCPS-issued devices. Through the portal, parents can control their child's access to YouTube and pause web browsing during designated After-School Hours while students are off the FCPS network.

These controls are active Monday - Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:00 AM (even on student holidays) and all day Saturday and Sunday. They do not affect district filtering policies during the instructional day.

Parents can register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal using the link provided in their weekly Lightspeed Online Student Activity Report email.

For more information about the Parent Portal, please visit the Lightspeed Parent Portal page on the FCPS website.
