Get ready to clean out those closets and swap some toys! Fort Belvoir Elementary School is hosting a Toy Swap just in time for the holidays.
This is a chance to exchange gently used toys for new-to-you treasures—all at no cost!
Here's How to Participate:
-
Toy Drop-Off: You can drop off your gently used toys, books, and games now through December 12th.
-
Please only bring items that are clean, safe, and in good working condition.
-
The drop-off location is the Upper School Lobby.
-
The Swap Day: Families will be able to come in and "shop" for free toys on Friday, December 13th.
Any toys that are not selected will be donated to a local charity.
If you have any questions, please contact the Family Liaisons, Dolores Elliott or Jeannette Little. Happy swapping!
F.C.P.S. Updated policy
Volunteer opportunities fall into three levels, with requirements that match the level of involvement and supervision:
-
Level 1: Infrequent volunteers (monthly or less frequent) who are always supervised do not need a criminal background check. However, they do need a sex offender registry check, which is performed by signing in at the school's visitor kiosk, usually in the front office. All volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Certification Statement. This statement is a legal attestation confirming you have no history of violent felonies, physical/sexual crimes against children, or crimes of moral turpitude.
-
Level 2: Frequent, ongoing, or regular volunteers (daily, weekly, bi-weekly) who are also always supervised and field trip chaperones are subject to the same requirements as Level 1.
-
Level 3: Volunteers with direct, unsupervised interaction with students. Only mentor, host parent, or non-parent volunteers having frequent, direct, and unsupervised contact with students will require fingerprinting.
AAP Full Time Referral Deadline December 15, 2025
For families who are interested in submitting a referral for full time AAP services, please submit this form to our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher Susan Lattuca (salattuca@fcps.edu) by December 15, 2025. Students who are referred will be screened in the Spring Screening cycle by central office and eligibility decisions will be sent to families in April and students who are found eligible for full time services will begin their placement next school year. For more information about the levels of advanced academic services, or if you have questions about advanced academics, please contact Susan Lattuca or visit the FCPS website.

New FCPS App: Get Your School News Ready to Share
Introducing the New FCPS Mobile App - Connect with your community!
We’re excited to share that the FCPS Department of Information Technology (DIT) team is launching a brand new FCPS mobile app designed to help community members, families and students stay connected to what’s happening in FCPS schools.
With the mobile app, users can directly on their phones:
- Get real-time updates on school news and events
- Access calendars, lunch menus, bell schedules and important notifications
- Quickly find school contact information and essential resources
School news creators will also have the ability to publish their social media updates to the app and automatically post to social platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram, making it easy to keep your communication channels aligned.
How to Get Started with posting your school news stories to the app
Once you identify staff members who will be responsible for posting your school’s news to the FCPS app, they’ll need to complete the News Creator Training in MyPDE (approx. 25 minutes). We’ll also be offering live training and Q&A sessions in the coming weeks. The app is free and available for download today on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Apply for free & reduced meals at: https://www.fcps.edu/frm.
