Bailey’s Upper Families,
We hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather! As the days get cooler, we want to remind everyone that we will send students outside for recess every day, unless the “feels like” temperature is below 32°F.
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather—coats, hats, and gloves are encouraged as temperatures continue to drop. If your family needs any support with cold-weather clothing, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn!
Next week, we are excited to kick off our second spirit week of the year! We hope to see many of our students join in on the fun:
- Monday – Sports Day
- Tuesday – Hat Day
- Wednesday – Cozy PJ Day
- Thursday – Grade Level Color Day
- 3rd Grade – Blue
- 4th Grade – Green
- 5th Grade – Yellow
- Friday – Culture Clothes Day
Did your child come home yesterday eager to play rock, paper, scissors with you? If so, it’s because we were spreading a little joy among staff with a friendly Rock, Paper, Scissors competition for World Kindness Day! All staff started with two blue beaded necklaces and faced off against colleagues throughout the day to see who could collect the most. Our top three winners finished with 23, 22, and 11 beads! Students loved watching the fun unfold, and we were able to model what good sportsmanship looks like—even when we don’t win.
We look forward to another wonderful week of learning, joy, and community together.
With gratitude,
Bailey’s Upper Admin Team

Justice Girls Lacrosse is hosting a Fall Clinic on November 17, 18, 19 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Justice High School! This clinic is open to anyone, but we are targeting girls in grades 5th – 8th in the Justice Pyramid. No experience or equipment is required. The cost is $50 and includes a t-shirt! Lacrosse is a growing sport in the country and will be a part of the 2028 Summer Olympics! We are hoping to grow the sport in our community and give girls the opportunity to try a new sport and express themselves in a new way! In the past six years, our Varsity team has made history, and we are hoping to continue the success each year! We most recently finished our season as National District CHAMPIONS and Occoquan Region Semi-Finalists and with the National District and Occoquan Region Player of the Year.
If you are interested in registering, please complete the form HERE.

Tutoring Resources for Families
Some families may be looking for additional resources to help support their child’s academic success. The FCPS Family Resource Center (FRC) maintains a list of FCPS employees who hold a valid Virginia teaching credential and who are available to hire as tutors. This list is a resource offered by the FRC, but families are responsible for contacting and working directly with the tutors. This list is not approved by FCPS and is only meant to be a resource to families.
FCPS also partners with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra resources for learning. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors' services, at no cost, including weekly live online classes, on-demand 24/7 chat tutoring, essay editing, and study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests.

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees, specifically at Bailey’s Upper ES. |
