The Clearview Community Connect

Stronger Together

Dear Clearview Families,

The first quarter is officially in the books, and we couldn’t be more proud of our students’ effort, kindness, and both academic and social-emotional growth. Students officially raised a grand total of $15,000, and logged 66,912 reading minutes across the month of October! Due to their efforts, they were able to enjoy a special event this afternoon- Pie the Principals!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Stephanie Almquist         Joshua Redford        Rachel Charlton

Thanksgiving Luncheon

🦃

So that all students and families have the opportunity to enjoy lunch in our limited space and to minimize disruptions to the instructional day, we ask families to adhere to the following schedule; therefore, please refrain from asking teachers and staff to send siblings to the cafeteria when it is not their scheduled time.

For visitors who plan to purchase lunch:

The cost for lunch for Clearview students is $3.25 and $5.00 for adults and children (who do not attend Clearview). You may add/use funds from your child’s My School Bucks account or pay cash. Please bring exact change to facilitate a cash purchase. Clearview students will be offered the opportunity to enjoy Grab and Go (cold) lunch on the day they do not attend the Thanksgiving Luncheon and/or are invited to bring lunch from home, as always.

🧡 Celebrating School Psychologists

National School Psychology Week (celebrated this week) is a meaningful time to recognize the professionals who help our children navigate the many paths of growing up.

School psychologists play a vital role in helping students discover and follow their unique paths — academically, socially, and emotionally. These highly trained professionals work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure students not only succeed in the classroom but also develop the tools they need to manage challenges and grow with resilience.  Clearview is extremely fortunate to have School Psychologist, Mr. Christian Lauritzen, known to most students as “Mr. L,” as part of our team!

Family Coffee: Connect, Learn, and Grow!

Enjoy a cup of coffee and join us —a relaxed way to meet other parents and school staff! Mark your calendars for December 3 at 9:00 AM. Christopher Noyes, Executive Director of the National Wilderness Leadership Institute and his team will discuss:

-Emergency preparedness as a community;

-Life saving measures including national certification in First Aid, CPR, AED; and

-Babysitting classes for children and adults including certification.

Federal Impact Aid Survey Available to Complete Online.

The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:

  • Military families.
  • Federally connected families.
  • Families living on a military base.

Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.

For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student starting November 12. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.

Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.

To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.

Step 1: CLICK HERE or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter.

Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVue Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.

Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.

If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page, and see a green check next to each of their names.

Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance web page for tips and strategies.

Veterans Day

Tuesday, November 11, is a holiday and schools will be closed for students.

Clearview thanks the veterans in our community for their service today and every day.

November is National Family Engagement Month

This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.

FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.

Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development. Mary Specht is Clearview’s wonderful family liaison.

If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives

🦃Thanksgiving🦃

Schools and offices will be closed November 26 to 28. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Classes will resume on Monday, December 1.
