Notes from the Nest

From the Principals’ Desk

This Friday, we’re thrilled to welcome author Kentrell Martin from Shelly’s Adventures for an interactive and inspiring literacy experience for our Eagles. Students will enjoy a live book reading, learn new American Sign Language (ASL) signs, and explore how stories can bring people together through communication and inclusion.

As we approach Veterans Day, we look forward to honoring our heroes and welcoming SEES Military families to our Muffins for Military event on Friday, November 14, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM in the cafeteria. Thank you for helping us build a community rooted in learning, gratitude, and service.

With gratitude,

April Martin, Proud Principal & Kassandra Flading, Assistant Principal.

Math in 5th grade

Fifth Grade Focus for This Week:

Our fifth graders are hard at work reviewing and building on important math concepts! Some students are exploring the relationship between repeated subtraction and division, as well as investigating the share model and near facts to strengthen their understanding of how numbers relate to one another. Others are delving into ratios and rational numbers, learning how to compare and represent ratios, and practicing the conversion between fractions, decimals, and percents. They’re also applying these skills to real-world situations to build confidence and deepen their understanding of number relationships. Regardless of the focus, our fifth graders are developing strong problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of how math connects to everyday life
