Welcome Mr. Koontz
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to introduce to you our new interim Assistant Principal Mr. James Koontz. Mr. Koontz returns to Silverbrook as Interim Assistant Principal, having started his educational journey here as a student teacher. He is looking forward to supporting our students, families, and staff as they work together to create a positive, engaging, and high-achieving learning environment. He brings 16 years of experience in education, including roles as a 4th-grade teacher, STEAM Resource Teacher, Math Resource Teacher, and Instructional Technology Coach. His experience also includes serving as a site administrator for Extended School Year and other FCPS summer programs.
Prior to his career in education, Mr. Koontz served as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army and as a corporate officer for a large government contractor. He holds a graduate certificate in K-12 Administration from UVA, a Master’s in Elementary Education from Marymount University, and a Master's in Administration from Central Michigan University.
