Thank you

Thank You, Veterans

Monday, November 10th, Dranesville Elementary came together to thank and honor the Veterans in our school community. The event began with a formal presentation of the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance, reverently led by Eagle Scouts. A sweet and poignant tribute followed as our Second Grade students read aloud the book, Thank You for Your Service!: A Kids Book Honoring Our Military Heroes. This heartfelt selection recognized the profound commitment of the men and women who wear the hats of Veterans, often alongside their roles as parents and caretakers to our students. The ceremony concluded with a delightful performance by the Second Graders, who shared several songs they have been learning in music class. It was a joyful day honoring Veterans in our school community. We are thankful for you every day.

✅Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

FCPS and Dranesville are asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. We will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, November 12.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Attendance Supports Students' Learning

Day 52 Attendance

Our goal at Dranesville is for every student to be reading on or above grade level by grade 3 and prepared for successful completion of algebra by grade 8. Attending school day is essential to access instruction, learn concepts and skills, and to demonstrate proficiency on grade level knowledge and skills.

Each quarter, we engage in school planning as an instructional team to ensure that we are implementing universally designed instructional practices that provide access points that are supportive of students' learning. Our collaborative teams of teachers meet weekly to pace the lessons that are being taught and the assessments that are being administered to monitor student learning.

There is a clear purpose for teaching and learning, which we refer to as learning goals, for each school day. It is important that students are present to receive instruction and engage in learning every day. Even with holidays approaching, grade level instruction, intervention, and enrichment will continue every day through winter break and when we return on January 5th.

The second quarter ends on January 28th. Thank you for your partnership and support in ensuring that your child attends each of the 46 days of second quarter so that they continue to learn, grow, and achieve.
