Notes from Principal Harris
Greetings Frost MS Families,
As we close out the first quarter, I want to take a moment to celebrate the outstanding start to our school year. Our students have been working hard—showing growth, curiosity, and commitment—and we are proud of all they have accomplished. Please take a moment to celebrate this great start with your son or daughter. Thank you to the PTA and all of our families for partnering with us to ensure a strong beginning to the year.
Last week, Frost was filled with excitement as we celebrated a very Spooky Spirit Week! From Pajama Day to Pink Out, students and staff really showed their spirit! We were also happy to see creative classroom themes and hallway fun as our students and staff showed incredible enthusiasm. The week concluded with a fantastic display of Halloween costumes—showcasing everything from clever to classic. We loved seeing our Falcons build community and express themselves in such joyful ways.
During our recent professional development day earlier this week, our faculty and staff engaged in meaningful learning centered on equity and effective instructional strategies that support active learning and literacy. These sessions are essential as we continue to Set Sail Toward Success, refining our craft to ensure that every student feels seen, supported, and challenged in their learning. We are excited to bring these high-impact practices into our classrooms throughout the year.
As we welcome the month of November, we turn our attention toward honoring those who have served our country. Our families, students, and staff members have been asked to send photos of family members who serve in the military. We look forward to celebrating Veterans Day as a moment to express our gratitude and respect for the brave individuals who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.
With the holiday season just a few weeks away, we also look forward to time for rest, reflection, and connection. Please note that the Thanksgiving student holiday is quickly approaching. We hope this upcoming break allows students and families to recharge and enjoy meaningful time together.
Thank you for your continued support of Frost Middle School and our mission to ensure success for every student. Together, we remain #OneFrost—anchored in learning and ready to set sail for the great opportunities ahead.
One final nugget: we have started a Frost MS Instagram account, @FrostMsFCPS. Please follow us on Instagram if you are on social media. I will be sunsetting the @FrostPrincipal Instagram account as we make this transition.
All the best, Mr. Harris
Federal Impact Aid Survey
The Federal Impact Aid Survey is now available to complete online.
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
- Military families.
- Federally connected families.
- Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.
For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student starting November 12. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.
Step 1: CLICK HERE or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter.
Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVue Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.
Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.
If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page, and see a green check next to each of their names.
