On Monday, November 10, 2025, from 9:00 am to approximately 9:30 am, Veterans are invited to join their students for the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and a short parade around the school's interior hallways.

Coffee and continental breakfast will be provided for all Veterans in the library.

To help us with our planning and ensure we can properly welcome all our guests, we ask that you complete the Google Form to register your Veteran if they plan to attend.

Please encourage your student to wear red, white, and blue on Monday, November 10 to show their support!

📃Federal Impact Aid Survey

Please log into your ParentVue account and complete the survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in.

Please complete it as soon as possible. We will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, November 12.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

🧪🔬Career Day (gr 3-6)

Friday, December 12, 9:00-10:30am

Get ready for an adventure!

Inspired by Dr. Seuss, Franconia Elementary School is thrilled to host our annual Career Day on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM.

We are sending out a special invitation to you!  Do you have a career that would spark curiosity in students and a passion for speaking to children?  We are looking for enthusiastic parents (and friends!) to come and share what you do and, most importantly, talk about the value of staying in school.

If your job is a good fit for students in grades 3–6 and you enjoy a dynamic, engaging environment, we need you to help inspire our future!  Your child does not have to be in grades 3-6 to attend career day.

Ready to join the fun?

Please complete this Google Form to express your interest: HERE

The deadline to submit the form is Monday, November 17.  Feel free to forward this invitation to any other interesting professionals you know who might be a great addition to our day!

If you have any questions, please contact our school counselor, Veronica Guillion, at 703-822-2200.

We can't wait to see the places our students go!

Employee Recognition Program

We know FCPS employs the best and brightest!  To recognize your colleagues, consider nominating them for one of the following:

  • The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care. Anyone may submit an FCPS CARES through StaffConnect
  • The FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards program celebrates the efforts and accomplishments of exceptional employees. Nominations are accepted from colleagues, supervisors, students, and parents. FCPS Honors is the end-of-year celebration held every June.  ***MORE INFO COMING***
  • Impact Awards celebrate the efforts and achievements of individual employees and teams whose job performance produces exceptional results aligned with the FCPS strategic plan. Nominations are reviewed in April. The annual celebration for recipients was held earlier this month. Read about this year’s winners and see photos from the event.

October

3-7: National School Psychology Week

This week we celebrate the important work school psychologists do to help all students thrive. <Please thank our School Psychologist, Cassie Class, if you work with her.> Learn more from the National Association of School Psychologists.

11: Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a federal holiday on November 11th that honors all who have served in the U.S. military, living and deadOriginally called Armistice Day, it was established to commemorate the end of World War I but was renamed and expanded to honor veterans of all wars after World War II. Celebrations include parades, moments of silence, and expressions of gratitude for veterans' service and sacrifice.  In 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to broaden the recognition to include veterans of all wars.

17-21: American Education Week

For American Education Week we celebrate ALL who work in our Franconia community: our bus drivers, cafeteria workers, counselors, support staff, teachers, leadership and more! Learn more from the National Education Association.  Want to recognize someone from our school who goes above and beyond?  Submit a nomination to FCPS Cares.

27: American Thanksgiving

The holiday associated with Pilgrims and Native Americans has come to symbolize intercultural peace, America’s opportunity for newcomers, and the sanctity of home and family.  President Roosevelt issued a proclamation in 1942 designating the fourth Thursday in November (which is not always the last Thursday) as Thanksgiving Day.

National Career Development Month

By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment.  A core program of CTE courses is offered in every middle and high school.  Based on the needs of the populations served, each school determines optional courses to be offered. Learn more about Academies and Specialized Programs.

National Family Engagement Month (11/19 - Family Engagement Day)

This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers.  Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.

FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.

Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices.  They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development.

If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives.

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native Americans.  It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges they have faced, both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS.
