A Message from Ms. Kirkland

As the first quarter of school comes to a close, I want to thank you for the many ways you are supporting your children find success at school.  Our students have been coming to school consistently, despite the many interruptions to our calendar.  Consistent attendance strongly supports students' academic and and social growth.

Students return on Wednesday, November 5 to begin Quarter 2. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend, and we can't wait to welcome your children back to school!

Thank you for your flexibility and planning as we navigate the interrupted weeks this fall. As always, I am grateful for your partnership.

Kate

PTO Events

At Mount Eagle, every parent is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). It's a great way to connect with other parents, learn about how to support your child, and have fun! There are many ways you can share your voice, talents, and time. Check out the PTO Website for more information. It's available in multiple languages.

PTO Meeting

Our next PTO meeting will be held over Zoom on Wednesday, November 5 from 6:30-7:30pm. We will hear from our Math Resource teacher on how parents can support their children using the math study guides. A link will be shared via Talking Points closer to the meeting date.

Bingo Night!

Our Annual Bingo Night is on Friday, November 14!  Doors open at 6:00pm, and the first game begins at 6:30pm!  PTO is still looking for donations of toys, games and gift cards to create prize baskets.  If you have items to donate, you can bring them to the front lobby each morning at arrival.

✅ Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. We will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, November 12.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Register for ParentVUE

Learn how to activate your SISParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey and have access to other helpful information about your child.

Technical support for using ParentVUE or submitting the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type “Federal Impact Aid Survey” in the Issue Description section. You may also call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).

🍎 Make Every Day Count! The Importance of Attendance

Our goal is to maintain a chronic absenteeism rate below 10% by the end of this school year. Our current absentee

As you plan upcoming trips and other family events, please remember the importance of sending your child to school every day. Review the FCPS School Year Calendar and try to plan any time away during breaks from school.

Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Research shows that children who were chronically absent (missing 18 days or more) in kindergarten and first grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of third grade.

Learn how families can help form good attendance habits.
