The Clearview Community Connect

Stronger Together

Dear Clearview Families,

Welcome to November! As the leaves change colors and we settle into the cooler rhythm of the school year, we naturally turn our thoughts toward gratitude. It's a wonderful time to pause and appreciate all the positive things happening around us. I am incredibly thankful for the vibrant community we have here at Clearview—our dedicated teachers and staff, our enthusiastic students, and, most importantly, you, our supportive parents and guardians. Family engagement is what truly makes our school special, and we thank you for all you do to support learning at home and in the classroom.

Remember, schools are closed for students on Monday, November 3, for a school planning day, and Tuesday, November 4, for a teacher workday.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

🧥Winter Coats Available🧥

As the autumn days grow cooler and the temperatures begin to drop, please remember to send your student to school with a warm coat each day. It is important that all students are able to stay warm and comfortable, especially during outdoor activities like recess and outdoor learning. If your student is in need of a winter jacket, please do not hesitate to reach out to our front office, and we will be happy to assist you confidentially.

Family Coffee: Connect, Learn, and Grow!

Enjoy a cup of coffee and join us —a relaxed way to meet other parents and school staff! Mark your calendars for December 3 at 9:00 AM. Christopher Noyes, Executive Director of the National Wilderness Leadership Institute and his team will discuss:

-Emergency preparedness as a community;

-Life saving measures including national certification in First Aid, CPR, AED; and

-Babysitting classes for children and adults including certification.

Federal Impact Aid Survey Available to Complete Online.

The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:

  • Military families.
  • Federally connected families.
  • Families living on a military base.

Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.

For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student starting November 12. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.

Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.

To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.

Step 1: CLICK HERE or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter.

Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVue Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.

Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.

If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page, and see a green check next to each of their names.

All Saints Day and Dia de los Muertos

This week we recognize those in our community observing All Saints Day and Día de los Muertos. For Catholics, All Saints Day (November 1) celebrates all those who are with God in Heaven, known and unknown. All Souls Day (November 2), known in Mexico and Latin America as Día de los Muertos, is a day of remembrance and prayer for all those who have died, especially for the souls who may be in purgatory. These special days are celebrated by Catholics, Anglicans, and some Protestants throughout the world.

All Saints Day

Student Holidays

Schools are closed for students on Monday, November 3, for a school planning day, and Tuesday, November 4, for a teacher workday.

Veterans Day

Veterans

Tuesday, November 11, is a holiday and schools will be closed for students.

Clearview thanks the veterans in our community for their service today and every day.

November is National Family Engagement Month

This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.

FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.

Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development. Mary Specht is Clearview’s wonderful family liaison.

If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives

🦃Thanksgiving🦃

Schools and offices will be closed November 26 to 28. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Classes will resume on Monday, December 1.

November is Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native Americans. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges they have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
