Garfield Elementary School has been officially recognized as a Virginia Purple Star School for the 2025–2026 school year! This is a wonderful honor!
The Purple Star Designation is awarded to schools that show an exceptional commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our staff, students, and community to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children—to include those whose loved ones serve our nation.
This honor is valid for three school years, beginning with the current 2025–2026 year, and stands as a proud testament to the heart and dedication of our GES community.

The FCPS mobile app provides a custom district-branded platform for iOS and Android that helps keep families connected and informed right from their smartphones.
Families can access essential content, including news, live updates, calendars, district and school-specific notices, cafeteria menus, and more, all in one place. Users can access updates and content without having to sign in, making it easy for everyone to stay informed.

Varsity Tutors
Varsity Tutors Provides On-Demand Support at No Cost.
Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors’ services at no cost, including weekly live online classes; on-demand 24/7 chat tutoring; essay editing; and study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests. Learn more about online tutoring with Varsity Tutors.

Immunization Events for
FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will be providing school-required immunizations and optional flu shots for all FCPS students with no out-of-pocket costs. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year.
Immunization clinics will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Willow Oaks Administrative Center on:
A clinic will also take place at Frost Middle School on Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Participation is voluntary. Additional immunization resources are available. Parents or guardians may schedule an appointment for their student
Family Life Education
 FLE lesson previews are available in Schoology for you to view. Go to fcps.edu and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Schoology.
Login with your SIS/ParentVue account information. Select the course dashboard at the top and choose the Halley Families Course.Then select the Parent Preview FLE instruction folder. You can view lessons per grade level.
Opt-outs can be changed up until October 31st in ParentVue. If you need a paper copy, please ask your teacher and return it by Oct. 31st.
