Dear Great Falls ES Families,
I hope you are enjoying the wonderful fall weather! As a reminder, there is no school this Monday and Tuesday as our staff are engaged in professional development and family conferences. Keep in mind that you can request a teacher conference at any time of the year. Teachers have been busy scheduling conferences for families to review fall assessments and classroom data. If you have not heard from your child's/children’s teacher, please reach out to schedule a time.
In a related note, fall family screening score reports are available to you via ParentVUE. Score reports for grade 1-6 fall screening and growth assessments are centrally distributed to families via the "documents" tab in SIS ParentVUE (PVUE). Families will receive up to three (3) reports based on the assessments their student took this fall:
Information on the timing and format of grade K family reports will be shared once decisions are finalized on possible fall testing window extensions for these grade levels.
Happy Halloween, Sara Harper

📅 National Family Engagement Month
This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.
FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development
If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives.

Fairfax County Youth Survey on Physical and Mental Well-Being
The Fairfax County School Board and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors work together to administer the Fairfax County Youth Survey. It provides information about a variety of topics related to our students that influence their physical and mental well-being, from sleep, physical activity, and nutritional habits to protective factors, substance use behaviors, and symptoms of depression.
The 2025 Fairfax County Youth Survey will be taken by students between Monday, November 10, and Friday, November 21. Parents and caregivers can opt their student out of participating in the survey if they so choose.
Visit the Fairfax County Youth Survey webpage for more information and to review the opt-out forms.
