Volunteer Opportunity: Frost Book Fair Parent Volunteer Coordinator

We’re looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help support our Fall and Spring Frost Book Fairs! This role involves approximately 15 hours per semester, with most of the time spent during the fair dates (listed below).

Time Commitment & Meetings The coordinator should be available for a brief 20-minute planning meeting with Frost’s Librarians – Dawn Alexander & Danielle Powers within the next few weeks. Ideally, the same volunteer can assist with both fairs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor a volunteer Signup Genius
  • Update and deliver the newsletter announcement for each fair
  • Recruit Frost caregivers to help with setup, takedown, and cashiering
  • Help cover a few unfilled or last-minute 2-hour shifts
  • Communicate with Frost Librarians
  • Possibly stop by the bank if we need small change

Fair Dates

  • Setup: Dec 3 & Apr 9
  • Shopping Days: Dec 5–12 & Apr 13–21
  • Pack Up: Dec 15 & Apr 22

The coordinator will not handle vendor communication, accounting, or student scheduling — just help us make these events run smoothly!

If you want to support Frost students and encourage them to read (or add to their poster collection), please email volunteer@frostmispta.org to coordinate.

Frost PTA General Meeting - October 21st - Thank you for joining!

Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and staff who joined us this week for our PTA General Membership Meeting!

We introduced the PTA Board, approved the 2025–2026 school year budget, and discussed upcoming events that need volunteers.

We’re grateful for everyone’s continued support - your time and involvement make Frost such a great community for our students! 💙

Volunteer FCPS

Parents of Elementary, Middle, or High School students -- Want to help out at school, chaperone a field trip, or mentor students? FCPS now requires all volunteers to be registered in the new Volunteer FCPS system. This helps keep our schools safe and makes it easier to match helpers with opportunities. Please take a few minutes to complete the registration and orientation so you’re ready when opportunities come up!

The safety and security of each and every student is our utmost priority at FCPS. Volunteer FCPS, a new tool and process for volunteers, maximizes support for students while also keeping them safe. The volunteer management system allows individuals to search and register for volunteer opportunities across the division. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer infrequently, ongoing, or regularly to:

  • Provide support at a school, office, or department.
  • Chaperone fieldtrips.

Individuals can complete a volunteer orientation at Volunteer FCPS. All volunteers — and visitors to a school — are required to sign in using the visitor kiosk. Some volunteers will also be required to undergo a background check.

Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about volunteer levels and registering in the system.
