Changes to Middle and High School Report Card Feedback:

With the first quarter of the school year ending on Friday, October 31, families can expect student report cards to be available in ParentVUE the week of November 10.

FCPS has updated the way teachers provide feedback on report cards, so you may notice some new comments this quarter. These revisions are designed to offer more detailed and meaningful feedback for students and families.

Additionally, teachers will now include a Work Habits mark each quarter for every student. This mark provides insight into students’ time management, organization, assignment completion, and overall effort in class. This is meant as feedback to families and will not appear on a student’s transcript.

For more information, please visit the Middle and High School Grading and Reporting webpage.

Go Paperless with Report Cards!:

FCPS offers families the option to “Go Paperless” for student report cards. By choosing this option, you’ll help reduce paper waste and support our school’s sustainability efforts—all while maintaining secure, convenient access to your child’s academic progress.

To select the paperless option:

  1. Log in to your ParentVUE account.
  2. Go to “My Account.”
  3. Select “Go Paperless for Report Cards.”
  4. Click Save.

Please note: Both parents in the same household must select the paperless option in their ParentVUE accounts for paper report cards to be discontinued.

Once both parents have opted in, report cards will be delivered electronically through SIS ParentVUE, and paper copies will no longer be mailed home.

If you need help setting up a ParentVUE account, please contact Victoria Reyes at vvreyes@fcps.edu.

Thank you for helping Liberty Middle School support a greener, more efficient way to share student progress!

Liberty students will be able to retake their school picture next Friday, November 7th, sometime between 8:00 and 10:00 AM.

Please remind your child to bring their initial school picture packet that they received. This packet needs to be given to the photographer. FCPS 2025 Bond Referendum:

Why Are Bonds Needed to Fund FCPS Construction Projects? The building and renovation of schools are not financed through the FCPS’ operating funds, but through bonds. Similar to an individual or a family obtaining a mortgage on a residence to spread the cost of home buying over several years, bonds spread the cost of major capital improvements over a number of years. This ensures that current and future residents and users share in the payment.

This approach is good for our taxes, too. If capital construction were financed out of current tax revenues on a pay-as-you-go basis, projects would need to be paid for in a much shorter time frame, likely reducing other county services or necessitating tax increases. Fortunately, the county’s bonded debt is not likely to be a contributing factor to any increase in local taxes.

A bond referendum to benefit FCPS will be on the ballot this Election Day, Tuesday, November 4. It represents an investment by the community into the facilities everyone uses — whether for school or to gather as a community.

Read more about the FCPS 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a voting plan and vote on Tuesday, November 4.

This week in the Liberty Library:

Library Spotlight!

One of our featured programs in the library, Battle of the Books, is in full swing! This in-school club meets weekly during Advisory as students prepare for a fun, fast-paced competition to see who knows this year’s books best. Each meeting includes creative, team-building activities that strengthen collaboration and communication. This week’s challenge had students using a mix of clues and charades to solve a mystery together, showing that teamwork and a love of reading make the perfect combination!
