Mustang artists have been wowing me with their creativity in art class! Kindergarteners finished a self portrait and then did a painting of a pumpkin patch by mixing colors in anticipation of their Cox Farms field trip. First grade artists have just finished a family portrait and glazed their clay cupcakes. Second grade artists have completed their community painting and are now working on a collage showing a community hero. Third grade artists have been hard at work on a portrait that shows all the aspects of their culture. Fourth grade artists glazed their coil pots (which are on display in the school showcase!) and finished up a landscape painting showing a region in Virginia. Fifth grade artists have been working on a painting showing a time in their life when they experienced change. Multiage artists have completed pumpkin sculptures and a cat collage. We have been very busy! The children are so happy in art and really have some great ideas!
As always, if you have some baby wipes to spare, we can definitely use them in art! You can drop them off in the office.
Are you loving the recent renovation of our school building?
We are, thanks to voters like you!
These beautiful updates were NOT funded through the annual FCPS operating budget. School building construction and renovations are funded by bonds, which are approved by voters!
On November 4, a new bond will be on your Election Day ballot. Learn more about how school bonds impact our community at fcps.edu/bond.
What Will the 2025 Bond Referendum on the November Ballot Fund?
The $460M bond referendum on the November ballot is expected to fund the next stages of several ongoing projects, as well as others referenced in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The building and renovation of our schools is not funded through the division’s operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a plan to vote by Tuesday, November 4.
The Bren Mar Park 4th graders invite all active and retired military members that are part of our Bren Mar Park community to join us for a special musical performance on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. All guests must check in to the front office with photo ID. Military members are invited to wear their uniform to be honored.
Afterwards, military members are welcome to stay and enjoy lunch with their child during the regularly-scheduled lunch time for the grade level. For families with multiple children, this may involve multiple lunch times.
Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
Help your student succeed by encouraging them to miss as few days as possible. However, do make sure your student stays home if they are sick. So when should your child stay home? Visit the FCPS website for helpful ideas regarding absences and how to work with your child and our school.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify our school and your child’s teacher so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with our public health nurse. Call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and tell school staff why and for how long.
Meeting the Moment: FCPS Forward — AI, a conversation with division leadership, which will take place Monday, November 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at West Springfield High School. Attend to:

What to expect on picture day
- Any student wishing to have a retake should bring their original picture package to exchange for the retake image.
- When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
- If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
- A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
- When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.
Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations are being held across the school division to discuss current challenges and future opportunities. These events are also a chance for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events are planned for the following dates from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are open to all.
We are excited for you to meet BMP Librarian, Ms. Valerie Jopeck.
