Roadrunner Roundup
Dear Roadrunner Families,
What a fantastic week to wrap up the First Quarter! We have so much to celebrate regarding the growth and progress our students have made. It is truly remarkable to look back at all the learning that has taken place since August.
A massive thank you to our incredible PTA for hosting the fantastic Road Runner Games this past weekend! We were overjoyed with the spectacular turnout and are still buzzing from the energy and fun. We send our deepest gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers and coordinators who worked tirelessly to make it such a huge success—our community partnership is what makes our school great.
As we head into next week, please remember a very important calendar change: there is no school this Monday and Tuesday. We encourage you to enjoy the long weekend with your family.
We look forward to seeing everyone back soon, refreshed and ready to start the Second Quarter strong!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal Alison Butler, Assistant Principal

Hands Off Challenge
At Little Run, we are always working to create a safe and equitable place for everyone. This month, our focus is on teaching the essential skill of respecting personal space and keeping our bodies to ourselves. This important skill helps every student feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.
Please partner with us by reinforcing this message at home! Encourage your child to practice the Little Run Way of being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.
Thank you for your continued support in building a positive school community!
Get Ready for House Meetings!
We are excited to kick off our House System for the new school year!
The purpose of the House System is simple: to build a strong sense of community and camaraderie among all of our students, from Kindergarten through the upper grades. It's a fun way for students to connect with peers and staff across the entire school.
Invitations reminding students of their Yellow, Green, or Blue House assignment are being sent home next week. Please be sure to look for this special "ticket" so your child knows which color they belong to! We'll also send out a reminder in TalkingPoints.
Our first official House Meeting of the year will be held on Friday, November 7th. We encourage all students to show their house pride by wearing their House Color that day!

Federal Impact Aid Survey is now available
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
- Military families.
- Federally connected families.
- Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.
For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student starting November 12. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
Step 1: CLICK HERE to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter. It is recommended that you use Google Chrome.
Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVUE Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.
Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.
If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all the forms when you get to the final page and see a green check next to each of their names.
"The Anxious Generation" Book Club - Follow Up
A huge shout-out to the 14 Little Run ES parents who joined us for all or part of our three-week book study of “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt!
We had fantastic discussions, and it's inspiring to hear that so many of you are already putting the ideas into practice, focusing on delaying smart phone use and increasing child independence in your daily lives. A special thanks to Keena McAvoy from DMV Unplugged for being such a great resource. She has provided a helpful guide with specific actions you can start taking today!
Please watch for more information as our community works to support parents interested in tackling issues related to smart phone use and other ideas from Haidt. Let's keep the momentum going!
