Mrs Gilley leading community meeting

Our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Gilley, lead our school community meetings this week.

🐝A Message from Principal Crews

Dear Hornet Families,

I can hardly believe that the first quarter of our school year is coming to a close on October 31st! It has been wonderful to see our students settle into their classroom routines, make new friends, and dive into learning. I am so proud of the hard work and progress our students and teachers have shown.

As we move into the second quarter, I want to ask for your partnership in continuing to reinforce our core Hornet Values. These values are the foundation of our positive school community:

  • Be Respectful: Using kind words, listening to others, and valuing everyone.
  • Be Responsible: Completing our work, taking ownership of our actions, and taking care of our school.
  • Be Safe: Walking in the hallways, keeping our hands to ourselves, and making smart choices.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about what these values look like at school, at home, and in our community. When we all work together to "Be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe," we ensure our school is a wonderful place for everyone to learn and grow.

Thank you for your continued support. Let's make the second quarter just as amazing as the first!

Sincerely,

Principal Jasibi Crews

Bond Referendum

🏗️ How Bond Projects Are Selected

Each year, the School Board and FCPS staff members work with the community to develop an updated, five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for school building and renovation projects. To develop the CIP, the school system assesses changes in expected enrollments, academic programs, and facility conditions to determine priorities for new construction, renovations, and other capital facility projects. The School Board then evaluates the affordability of these school needs against other countywide requirements to determine the bond proposal.

Because of this, while FCPS and the School Board generally try to follow the CIP, changes can be made year-over-year depending on the evolving needs of the school division.

The School Board is committed to protecting the community’s investment in schools and other buildings, which have a combined present value approaching $9 billion. Not only do these facilities wear out over time, but they also become outdated, both technologically and instructionally. FCPS renovates its schools to ensure that students, countywide, have effective and efficient learning environments to thrive and grow.

Boundary Review

📍 October Community Boundary Review Meetings
