Principal’s Message to Families
Ravensworth Families,
This evening, we look forward to seeing you all at our annual Ravensworth PTA Trunk or Treat. Food trucks and Book Shopping open at 5:30, and the Trunk or Treating and Pumpkin Crafts/games will be from 6:30 – 7:30. Please join us for this wonderful evening of family fun and school partnership.
Looking ahead, we have several exciting events coming up in November. We have our Veterans Day Bravery Breakfast on November 10th and our school fundraiser Run4Ravensworth on November 19th. We are grateful for our partnership with you, our families, and the support from our PTA.
Our next 3-hour early release Wednesday is October 29th. Dismissal confirmations were sent via email. Changes to dismissal plans must be received by 12:00pm on Monday, October 27th to ensure student safety. We had many day-of changes on our first early-release Wednesday, which created challenges with ensuring a safe and efficient dismissal. Thank you for your help with planning ahead and supporting a smooth, seamless process and confidence for all students.
Sincerely,
Shannon Mueck
Interim Principal
Ravensworth ES
Early Release Wednesday - October 29th
Ravensworth's next 3-hour Early Release Wednesday is Wednesday, October 29th. Dismissal plan reminders were sent via TalkingPoints. Dismissal changes must be made by 12:00pm on Monday, October 27th to ensure student safety. Preschool follows a normal schedule that day.
Kiss and Ride Reminder
When picking up students through the Kiss and Ride line, please be sure to have your assigned number clearly displayed. If you no longer have your original tag, the number can be written on paper and displayed on the dashboard. This will help our staff quickly communicate with those managing student dismissal. Thank you for your support!
Storybook Character Day - Friday, October 31st |

Help Ravensworth ES celebrate our love for literacy. Dress up as your favorite storybook character! If you like, bring your favorite book along. Be creative, but no masks or weapons.
The Federal Impact Aid Survey
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
• Military families. • Federally connected families. • Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the enrolling parent) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form. Your information will be kept strictly confidential. Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.
Step 1: CLICK HERE or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter. Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVue Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’. Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.
If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page and see a green check next to each of their names.
Library Volunteers Need
The library needs Tuesday volunteers! Currently, our librarian, Mrs. Sloan, needs support from 8:45-9:35 am and 10:50-1:10 pm on Tuesdays.
Volunteers will be trained in shelving books and checking in and out library materials to students/staff. They might also support with pulling books for displays and processing new books.
If you’re interested, please email Mrs. Sloan at jasloan@fcps.edu.
LEAP - Library Equity Access Pass
Did you know that every FCPS student PK-12 has a Fairfax County Public Library card? The LEAP program, now in its 6th year, allows all FCPS students to check out up to 3 library books for up to 6 weeks at a time (print books only). In lieu of presenting a physical library card, students give their names to the public librarian (no student ID needed) to check out their books. A new LEAP button has been added on the Library Resources page on the FCPS website. Click on the LEAP button to learn more.
