From the Principals’ Desk
Happy Booktober finale, Eagles! What an incredible month of reading, creativity, and community. From our Literacy Night and Book Fair to daily classroom celebrations, students have shown that reading truly brings stories—and imagination—to life. Our Read-a-Fun fundraiser is still going strong through November 7. Please encourage your students to log those reading hours.
As we turn the page into November, we’ll continue focusing on gratitude, community, and connection. Thank you for all you do to support literacy at home and for helping make SEES a place where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn.
With gratitude,
April Martin, Proud Principal, & Kassandra Flading, Assistant Principal
🦅 SOAR Shout-Outs

 Pre-K Focus for this week
Our youngest learners are SOARing in math! This week, our Pre-K students have been busy developing early math skills through hands-on exploration and play. They’re practicing counting aloud to 10 and using one-to-one correspondence to find out how many objects are in sets of up to five. They're also learning to analyze simple data and respond to questions about picture graphs. In addition, our mathematicians are sorting and matching objects by shape, size, and color—building foundational skills for future problem-solving.
Field Day Appreciation
A huge THANK YOU to all our amazing Field Day volunteers! We couldn’t have pulled off such a fun, action-packed day without your help. From cheering on the kids to keeping the stations running smoothly, you brought the energy and smiles that made the day unforgettable. We truly appreciate your time, teamwork, and great attitudes. Thanks again for making it such a fantastic day for our students! We were super lucky with the beautiful weather and just as lucky to have such great volunteers.
Thank you,
Mr. Dexter and Mr. Donnelly

Bond Referendum
🏗️ How Bond Projects Are Selected
Each year, the School Board and FCPS staff members work with the community to develop an updated, five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for school building and renovation projects. To develop the CIP, the school system assesses changes in expected enrollments, academic programs, and facility conditions to determine priorities for new construction, renovations, and other capital facility projects. The School Board then evaluates the affordability of these school needs against other countywide requirements to determine the bond proposal.
Because of this, while FCPS and the School Board generally try to follow the CIP, changes can be made year-over-year depending on the evolving needs of the school division.
The School Board is committed to protecting the community’s investment in schools and other buildings, which have a combined present value approaching $9 billion. Not only do these facilities wear out over time, but they also become outdated, both technologically and instructionally. FCPS renovates its schools to ensure that students, countywide, have effective and efficient learning environments to thrive and grow.
Read more about the FCPS 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a voting plan and vote on Tuesday, November 4.
