 Willow Springs' Foreign Language in the Elementary School (FLES) Program
Did you know that all Willow Springs students in grades K-6 receive weekly Spanish language lessons in our FLES classrooms? Many of our students develop proficiency in reading, speaking and writing Spanish as a result of this program.

Schools Closed on Monday--Diwali
Monday, October 20, is a school holiday for Diwali and all FCPS schools and offices will be closed. See the complete school year calendar.
We wish a happy Diwali to all celebrating! Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs & some Buddhists. The festival represents the symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. #OurFCPS
Digital Citizenship Spirit Week
Digital Citizenship Week kicked off on Friday and runs through next Friday.
Digital Citizenship Week is an annual campaign to promote a healthy, balanced, and positive approach to media and tech use among young people.

Book Fair Volunteers
Our book fair will be here before you know it. Mark your calendars for November 17-21.
We will need several volunteers throughout the week to help with everything from set up and take down, to making wish lists with our younger students, and working the register. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with 1, 2, 3 Andres!
September 15-October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. Students have been learning about famous and notable Americans of Hispanic heritage during our Willow Springs Spanish FLES classes.
Today we were visited by Latin Grammy-winning due, 1, 2, 3 Andres who shared lively and engaging music with us. It was a very special & lively performance! We look forward to sharing photos in our newsletter next week.
WSES Family Assistance Questionnaire
Willow Springs Elementary School is committed to ensuring that all our students have the resources and support they need throughout the school year to reach their full potential in school and within the community.
To help us better support our students and families, we have developed this questionnaire to identify areas of need.
The survey is entirely optional and confidential and translated copies are linked below.
You only need to complete and return the questionnaire if you are interested in receiving assistance to address the needs in your family.

💻 All Families Opted in to Lightspeed Student Online Activity Report
FCPS provides families with a free service that allows parents and caregivers a way to stay informed about their child's online activity on any FCPS device. Starting Sunday, October 12, all parents and guardians who have access to student records in SIS ParentVUE will be automatically enrolled to receive a weekly Lightspeed Student Online Activity Report.
This report provides a summary of the websites your child visited during the previous week and is delivered every Sunday to your email directly from Lightspeed, our internet content filter.
Each weekly report also includes a link to register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal, which provides more detailed browsing information. This portal also gives you the ability to pause internet access on your child’s FCPS laptop during non-school hours, such as dinner or bedtime.

Last Chance to Shop WSES' Farmers Market
WSES' Farmers Market 's last day will be next Friday, October 24th. You can get fresh, healthy, and local produce from Piney Meadow Farm and our very own school garden.
Visit the market by the blacktop at dismissal.
