Message from Mrs. Briggs
On Monday, our staff and administration were recognized by the FCPS Senior Leadership Team, School Board, and General Assembly for our 2024 National Blue Ribbon award. This was a wonderful tribute to our incredible staff for all of their hard work. However, I would be remiss if I didn't thank our parent community for the partnership and support that you provide our school on a daily basis. I am so fortunate to be the leader of a school with so many individuals who are so invested in our students' future.
We hope you and your family enjoy the long weekend!
Sincerely,
Amy Briggs

National School Lunch Week
This week is National School Lunch Week, which promotes the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. View menus for your child’s school to help you plan for the week ahead.
Did you know that families can apply for free and reduced-price meal benefits anytime during the school year?
If a family’s income changes at any point, they may become newly eligible according to federal income guidelines and can apply immediately. This includes income interruptions caused by furloughs, layoffs, or job losses. Once approved, benefits remain valid for the rest of the school year and for up to 30 school days into the following school year, even if the family’s income changes again. Read Superintendent Reid's October 1 letter regarding other resources available to families impacted by the government shutdown.

A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division to discuss current challenges and future opportunities. These events are also a chance for you to share your thoughts and ask questions about FCPS. Events are planned for the following dates from 6 to 8 p.m.:

When Should Your Child Stay Home?
Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
Help your student succeed by encouraging them to miss as few days as possible. However, do make sure your student stays home if they are sick. So when should your child stay home? Visit the FCPS website for helpful ideas regarding absences and how to work with your child and our school.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify our school and your child’s [teacher or teachers] so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with our public health nurse. Call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and tell school staff why and for how long.

Thank you to all volunteers (especially our co-chairs Meaghan Gay and Ellen Hansen) for making this year’s Book Fair such an amazing success!
PUMPKIN PAINTING PARTY
Thursday, October 30 - 5:30-7:30pm
Join us for this festive, free and family friendly Pumpkin Painting Party hosted by the PTO.
Each child will receive a pumpkin to decorate and take home. This free event is open to all Spring Hill families. Please reserve your spot here today, so we can plan for enough supplies.
We look forward to seeing silly, spooky, and festive designs, using provided art supplies. Please note: there will be no carving of pumpkins at this event.
This event will be held in the cafeteria, and we will provide light refreshments. Please note: this is NOT a drop-off event. A parent, guardian, or caregiver must be present with each ticketed child.
We welcome your Halloween costumes and attire, but it is certainly not required - We can’t wait to see you there!
TASTE OF SPRING HILL (TOSH)
