We wanted to let you know of some exciting news regarding Churchill Road being awarded Purple Star status for our commitment to our military-connected students. The school will be recognized at the upcoming Fairfax County School Board Meeting on November 13, 2025. See below for more information regarding this news.
The Federal Impact Act Survey is open now in ParentVUE for all families to complete. Please take a few minutes to log in and complete this important form.
Thank you again for entrusting your children to us. We are here to support you in any way we can.

We Are Proud to Earn our Purple Star!
We are thrilled Churchill Road ES has been awarded the prestigious Purple Star designation! This honor recognizes our commitment to supporting military-connected students and families, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued in our school and community.
The Purple Star designation reflects our ongoing efforts to provide exceptional resources, programs, and guidance tailored to the needs of our military families. You can read more about this achievement and what it means for our school by visiting FCPS Distinguished Purple Star Schools.
We look forward to continuing to serve and honor our military-connected families.
Federal Impact Aid Survey Now Available to Complete Online!
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
- Military families.
- Federally connected families.
- Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.
Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.
Step 1: CLICK HERE or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter.
Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVUE Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.
Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.
If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child.
You will know you have completed all the forms when you get to the final page and see a green check next to each of their names.

Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 20 Join Us and Volunteer!
Join Us
Please join your child and their class in celebrating Thanksgiving Lunch. We ask that you kindly RSVP by November 6. Although not required to attend, your RSVP will assist our cafeteria staff have a general idea of attendance to prepare enough food for the day. Thank you!
If you are joining your child for lunch, please be sure that your child’s MySchoolBucks lunch account has sufficient funds to pay for both you and your child, because we will not be able to accept cash or charge cards that day. This is the easiest way to keep the lunch lines short.
The cost for lunch is $5.00 for adults and $3.25 for students.
Check out the Thanksgiving Lunch Schedule to see when your child will be in the cafeteria.
Volunteer
Volunteers are needed to help out in the cafeteria outside of your child’s assigned lunch time to either serve food in our kitchen or be a host in our dining room. All parent volunteers will get a free lunch! We would be very THANKFUL for your help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A45ACAB2AA7FC1-59623672-thanksgiving
Elementary Language Arts Grades
Progress report grades in English language arts (ELA) have changed to reflect the 2024-25 curriculum, assessments, and Standards of Learning.
FCPS is raising the bar and setting high goals! We are teaching and grading students on the skills they need by the end of the school year. Think of it as a growth chart and each quarter students are measured in progress toward end of year expectations. In light of this, first quarter grades are often lower than the other quarters as students work to reach grade-level mastery.
This is an expected part of the learning journey. We are here to support every student as they progress in learning. We are celebrating the effort and growth toward these new, higher standards! Learn more about this change in ELA grading and reporting.
