Fall is the perfect season to gather your friends and family and show support for our amazing local schools!

Skip the high cost of the NFL! On Friday, October 17, three local football teams will be celebrating their respective Homecomings. Come out and enjoy the excitement of high-energy football right here in your neighborhood.

You can also check out the sights, sounds, and tastes of fall at the Mount Vernon HS Theatre Department's Fall Festival on Saturday, October 25, 10 AM - 2 PM.

Forget about a trip to Broadway! Our talented students are currently hard at work producing an impressive lineup of plays and musicals that you will not want to miss! This season features:

Principal Selection Process Underway for Lewis HS and Hayfield SS

I encourage you to participate in the selection of a principal for the following schools: Lewis HS and Hayfield SS. FCPS needs to hear your voices so the principals are aligned with our community expectations and requirements.

Please volunteer to serve on the principal interview panel for Lewis HS or Hayfield SS! The panel is composed of three staff representatives, three family or community representatives, and one student representative. To apply, please use the following links by the stated deadlines:

Celebrate Homecoming with Mount Vernon District Schools

Hayfield SS, October 17

Friday, October, 17, 4:30 PM, Hayfield Homecoming Parade. The Hawks are hosting a brief parade that will travel through the Hayfield Farms neighborhood. The parade will begin at Hayfield SS and will make its way through the neighborhood between 4 PM to 4:30 PM. Show your community spirit as the Hawks prepare to take the field.
Friday, October 17, 5 – 7 PM, Hawktoberfest, Hayfield SS Senior Parking Lot. Ready for some fall fun? Join us for Hawktoberfest, Hayfield’s beloved annual pre-homecoming festival! This cherished tradition invites current students, alumni, and families back to the Hawk Nest for an evening of community celebration. Get ready to enjoy delicious dining options from local food trucks and participate in a variety of fun games. This is a wonderful opportunity to support and connect with the entire Hawk community. We hope to see you there!
Friday, October 17, 7 PM, Homecoming Football Game vs. Annandale HS. Don’t miss this district match-up against the Annandale Atoms! Purchase tickets online.
Saturday, October 18, 7-10 PM, Homecoming Dance. Hayfield SS students are invited to spend “A Night in Athens.” The dance is open to current 9th-12th grade students in good standing. Tickets can be purchased on MySchoolBucks for $20 until 10/16/25.

Edison HS, October 17

Friday, October 17th, 7 PM, Homecoming Football Game vs. Falls Church HS. Mark your calendars! Edison HS is celebrating homecoming THIS Friday, October 17. Don't miss the action as our Edison Eagles take on the Falls Church Jaguars! Kickoff is at 7 PM at the Edison HS Stadium. Let's pack the stands, cheer loud, and show our school spirit as our team battles for a huge homecoming victory! Wear your school colors, bring your energy, and let's make some noise! Go Eagles! 🦅

Lewis HS, October 17

Wednesday, October 15, 4:30-6 PM, SGA’s Chili & Cheese Cook Off. Come watch Lewis HS’s clubs and athletic teams compete against one another for the best homemade Chili or Mac & Cheese. Tastings are free but there will be snacks and drinks for sale by individual clubs/sports.
Wednesday, October 15, 6:30-8 PM, SGA’s PowerPuff Game at Lewis HS Stadium. Don’t miss the annual flag football game between the Junior and Senior Girls. Lewis PTSA will be there to sell graduation yard signs and Lewis HS gear. SGA will selling chips and refreshments. Come support our students.
Friday, October 17, Homecoming Football Game vs. Justice HS and Half-Time Homecoming Royalty Court. The presentation is during the football game as the Lewis Lancers take on Justice HS. The game begins at 7 PM. Let's go, Lancers!
Saturday, October 18, Lewis HS SGA’s Homecoming Dance, 7-10 PM, Main Gym. Tickets will be cash only. No tickets will be sold at the door. Students must enter by 8:30 PM.

Congratulations to Mount Vernon HS, West Potomac HS, and South County HS on successful 2025 Homecoming celebrations! It was a real pleasure joining the students, staff, and families for all the festivities. I sincerely appreciate the warm invitations and the opportunity to celebrate with the communities. Thanks for having me—it was a blast! See some of my favorite homecoming moments below!

South County HS will host its 2nd Annual Talent Show on Thursday, October 16 at 7pm in the South County HS Auditorium.

Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold at the door or on My School Bucks through the school store.

West Potomac HS Theatre Presents: Hadestown Teen Edition, October 30 - November 8

This full-length Teen Edition of Anaïs Mitchell’s haunting, jazz-inflected folk opera follows Orpheus’ mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice.

Mount Vernon Pyramid Choir Concert, November 12

The Mount Vernon Pyramid is coming together for its annual Pyramid Choir Concert!

When: Wednesday, November 12, 7 PM
Where: Mount Vernon HS Field House

This is your chance to hear over 300 talented singers from across the entire pyramid—our elementary schools, Whitman MS, and Mount Vernon HS—all performing on one stage. Plus, don't miss a special performance by the Mount Vernon $6^{t h}$ Grade Honor Choir!

It will be a wonderful evening that celebrates music, community, and the incredible talent growing right here in our schools. Come support this inspiring display of musical talent and teamwork!

Twain MS Theater Presents Everyone Gets Eaten By Sharks, November 14-15

Fact: Most people, if not everyone, will eventually be eaten by sharks. But you can postpone the inevitable (and get a great deal on a timeshare!) by joining Adventure Dan on a tour through shark-infested scenarios.

This is a delightfully madcap comedy you're sure to devour... unless it devours you first.
