FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards
Nominations are now open for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a TLES Outstanding Employee, please complete the nomination form.
All that is required is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work. You may nominate up to one employee per category.
Outstanding Teacher
Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category
Outstanding New Teacher
Eligibility: Has up to three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category
Outstanding Principal
Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a building principal (in any school/school district)
Outstanding Leader
Eligibility: Assistant Principal, Associate Principal, Director of Student Services (DSS), Director of Student Activities (DSA), Schedule-C or School-Based Administrator scale employees (that are not the principal).
Outstanding Professional Employee
Eligibility: School Counselor, Resource Teacher, Instructional Coach, Special Education Department Chair, School-Based Technology Specialist (SBTS), Technology Support Specialist (TSSpec), Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Language Pathologist, School Nurse, Family Liaison.
Outstanding Operational Employee
Eligibility: Administrative Assistant, Office Assistant, Student Information Assistant (SIA), Finance Technician, Registrar, Custodian, Building Supervisor, Food Services staff, Instructional Assistant, Family Liaison, Public Health Training Assistant, Bus Driver, and all other hourly employees.
Nominations must be submitted by Wednesday October 28, 2025

October 31 Spirit Day
Friday, October 31 will be Dress as a Book Character Day. We encourage all students to dress as a Book Character or wear a costume of their choice.
 Students should not wear masks that cover their entire face or bring weapon-like accessories.
Kindergarten and first grade will have a morning parade around the school dressed as their favorite book character. Some ideas for making costumes with items found at home are below:
Spy: wear dark clothes and sunglasses.
Athlete- wear a jersey and bring a piece of sports equipment.
Pajamas- to be characters from the book Pajama Time, Fancy Nancy, Pirates in Pajamas, Llama Llama, The Problem with Pajamas, Vegetables in Pajamas
Cat- draw whiskers and a nose on your face using makeup.
Banana- wear all yellow.
Bush/tree- fill a trash bag with leaves and place it on or around you.
How AI Is Shaping Teaching and Learning
Meeting the Moment: FCPS Forward — AI, a conversation with division leadership, which will take place Monday, November 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at West Springfield High School. Attend to:
- Learn about the opportunities and challenges of AI in education.
- Explore how AI can support FCPS student achievement and workforce readiness.
- Engage in a thought-provoking panel and keynotes.
- Help shape the future of innovation at Fairfax County Public Schools.

🩹 Immunization Events for FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will be providing school-required immunizations and optional flu shots for all FCPS students with no out-of-pocket costs. Immunization clinics will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Willow Oaks Administrative Center on:
- Thursday, November 6
- Tuesday, November 18
- Wednesday, November 19
- Thursday, November 20
A clinic will also take place at Frost Middle School on Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year.
Participation is voluntary. Parents or guardians may schedule an appointment for their student. Learn more about immunization resources.

Read-A-Thon: October 8-October 24
We've already earned $12,000! Just one more week left to keep up the fun reading!
As students log their reading minutes and raise funds, they’ll earn fun, camping-themed rewards that add to the adventure. Each milestone unlocks a new surprise—like wearable gear, creative tools, and handy items perfect for young readers on the go.
On the final Friday (October 24th), we’ll wrap up the Read-A-Thon with a special Flashlight Reading Day—so don’t forget to pack your flashlight!
To register:
- visit www.getmovinfundhub.com and click on 'Register'. Enter our School Identifier: 68b892fd3b5a1
- Click "Add Student" from the Parent Dashboard to create a Student Webpage with a photo/video and a personal message.
- Click "Save" and you're done! You've now created a Student Webpage that you can share with friends and family via text, email, and social media. The more you share, the more you raise!

Family Restaurant Night @ Five Guys Falls Church
Join the PTA on Thursday October 23 from 4PM-8PM at Five Guys Burgers & Fries in Falls Church! Mention Timber Lane or show the flyer when you place your order and 20% of the proceeds will be donated back to the PTA! Valid for online, phone, or walk in orders. Not valid on delivery orders or orders placed through third party delivery apps like UberEats or DoorDash.

The TLES PTA is proud to host Parents' Night Out: Timber Lane Goes Camping (Indoors!)

- A cozy movie under the "stars"
- $60 per child (ages 4+ and fully potty trained)
- $20 from each registration goes back to TLES!
