Green Team in Action

gti

The Green Team is delighted to announce our participation in the Neighborhood Forest Free Indoor Plant Program!

Since 2010, Neighborhood Forest has reached over 3,500 schools, libraries, and youth groups – engaged over 750,000 volunteers – and planted over 310,000 (mostly urban and residential) trees through the hands of children and parents across North America. Last spring, they gave a record 112,000 kids at 1,500 institutions their very own tree for Earth Day 2025 – 84 of those free trees were given to our WFES students who registered!

We are excited to be working with Neighborhood Forest again, this time engaging young people by giving them a little piece of nature to care for and watch grow inside their home. Indoor plants provide many similar benefits as trees, including purifying the air, improving health and well-being, enhancing concentration/focus, and more!

To receive a free succulent for your child to care for at home, fill out the following online registration form by October 28.

Register by 10/28 to receive a free succulent to care for indoors with your child:

🏗️ School Bond Referendum on Ballot Tuesday, November 4

The $460 million School Bond Referendum — supporting the division and county’s commitment to providing safe and welcoming learning environments for all students — will be on the Tuesday, November 4, general election ballot.

The funding provided by voter-approved bonds is expected to fund projects identified in the FY 2026-30 Capital Improvement Program, which was approved by the School Board in February.

The building and renovation of our schools is not funded through the division’s operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum. Watch this video that explains, “What Is a bond?”

Make sure you have a voting plan! Learn more about registering to vote. The recent renovations and updates at our school were funded by bond referendums. Learn more about the bond referendum at fcps.edu/Bond2025.
